“Better than ever from returning guests1”

As return visitors of many times over the past 8 years we have always enjoyed our stay in this dog friendly Guest House but now with the new owners it is now even better with superb investment in improving the guest experience! Richard and Deb have made an immediate impact in making the Lakeland stay even more enjoyable for all the guests. The most impressive development was the much needed, comfortable and perfect resident's lounge with warm log burning stove and free tea and coffee - plus honesty bar - great for not having to drive from the middle of the forest! Deb's breakfasts are fantastic and will keep you going well into the afternoon!
We had a most enjoyable 3 night break at the end of November - be assured we'll be back!

Room Tip: Go for Room 1 Birch Suite if available - loads of room!

Thank you for your lovely comments, it is especially pleasing to receive such praise from returning guests, as it confirms that the changes we are making are successful. We very much look forward to seeing you again - over the next 8 years and beyond.
All the best

at first i didn't know what to expect with the web page, however after speaking to Richard (the owner) his warm friendly approach put me at ease. once we arrived we were welcomed by Richard and showed us to our room which was lovely! and not what i was expecting (web page was not kind) he also explained he and his wife debbie had taken over the premisses in march and had not upgraded the web page. this lodge was lovely and cosy (especially the new lounge) with a wood burner, the service was excellent and the breakfast was great. all in all great location great host and great lodge i deffinatly ill be going back.

Room Tip: all rooms have great views of grizedale forest

“Perfect Forest Getaway”

This was our second stay at Grizedale Lodge and, under the new management of Richard & Deborah, we had an even more relaxing and delightful stay. A guest lounge had been added since our last visit and our helpful and friendly hosts made us all ( including the dogs - who now expect bacon for every breakfast! ) very welcome. A wonderful retreat in the heart of this Lakeland forest. Highly recommended!!

“Perfection!”

This was our first visit here and we weren't disappointed. Richard and Deb made us feel more like friends than guests, and even Izzie our border terrier was made to feel special with her own breakfast of sausage and bacon. From the first time of meeting us Richard remembered our names throughout our stay as he did with everyone, which was amazing. I can't finish without mentioning the fantastic breakfast and the whisky porridge was mouthwatering! Everything about this hotel is first class, we will certainly be staying again!!

“Perfect Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

If you need to relax then look no further. Richard and Deb are fabulous hosts. They plan to make this a guest house, but in reality it is a rather comfy retreat. We had no need to drive anywhere for our whole stay. There are walks aplenty in the grizedale forest, which looks like it has a fabulous cafe, although after the breakfasts you will eat apart from a biscuit I would be impressed if you can eat anymore!!
The B&B is most comfortable - we very much enjoyed our first stay in a four poster bed. The lounge, with its roaring fire is perfect for an evening drink and game of scrabble, or a lazy afternoon. There really was not anything we did not love about this place, including the local pub (2 miles walk) with award winning beer.
We will be back and if you need a complete escape from the city - come here.
