“Grasmere's greatest getaway.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We arrived at this wonderfully cosy, impeccably presented guest house, pulled up into the car park and were welcomed inside like old friends by hosts Karen and John. After relaxing in the sumptuous drawing room, with the coal fire roaring and a glass of wine in hand we were taken through to the dining room and served a beautiful home cooked meal which we had pre ordered. This was lovingly prepared with the best local ingredients and was sublime.
Our room was wonderful, attention to the smallest of details has been made in Raise View to ensure that not only does everything look opulent but is also extremely comfortable. Karen has a very good eye for interior design. The view from our room could have been painted -it was just breathtaking! After feasting on a breakfast fit for Kings we set out on one of the walks that John had recommended which ended up in the picturesque village of Grasmere.
I couldn't recommend Raise View more highly. This was our first trip but it will most definitely not be our last.

“Charlotte's Birthday weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This B and B is my favourite in the Lakes. You are greeted with an amazing coal fire and a beautifully decorated home. Karen and John make you most welcome and are well informed on all the local walks (difficult, moderate and easy)! There is plenty of choice for breakfast, with fresh fruits, cereals, and full cooked English breakfasts as well. The views from any of their bedrooms are breathtaking, we stayed in one overlooking the fields and mountains. Looking forward to seeing you next year!!

“The Ultimate Lakeland Luxury Guesthouse in gorgeous Grasmere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We have just returned from our umpteenth stay at Raise View House. We have now stayed in nearly all of the different but unique and cosy bedrooms, each one individually named after a local poet or landmark.

The house standards of luxury, style and comfort have remained consistent since our first stay 6 years ago. The welcome from Karen and John is as warm and genuine as ever and John's award winning breakfasts set you up for a day on the fells! John is always there for free walking and rambling advice whilst Karen can point you in the right direction for a shopping bargain in Windermere, Ambleside and beyond!

Whether it is a night in by John's roaring log fire in winter or a summer evening in their private garden with spectacular fell views, Raise View House is a MUST stay if you are planning any visit to the heart of the English Lake District.

“Excellent B N B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I was in the Lakes to go walking and managed to find this place with a single room. They have really made quite some effort with the decor to make it unlike the hundreds of clone B and Bs out there. It is comfortable, has a useful honesty bar and the breakfasts were a perfect start to an adventurous day. John was on his own the weekend I stayed but with help from a neighbour service was maintained to a high standard. The key thing about the way John runs Raise View is the personal service; I was out walking prior to my arrival and he phoned me to say he needed to pop out for half an hour but that he wanted to make sure I wouldn't be left waiting while he ran his errand. Brilliant, can't imagine a hotel even thinking about such a thing. The views to the rear of Helm Crag are fabulous.

“Warm cosy peaceful and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We've just stayed at this lovely b&b where john and karen have created a really welcoming atmosphere. Our room (jackdaw) was small but cosy. Very pretty decor and a fab view. In fact, if shower had been a more powerful one, it would have been perfect. John was very helpful with his walking knowledge and even lent us a map, which we returned soggy but he didn't mind. Karen was delightful at breakfast, serving us delicious food with a smile. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely return. Highly recommended.
