“What a brilliant start to 2012”

What the weather lacked (lots of hail) the hospitality made up for it. We were given a warm welcome and showed to our room with glorious views over the lake. Breakfast was delicious which is high praise since we own a cafe. We were constantly made to feel welcome without an invasion to our privacy or feeling like we were intruding. Nothing was too much trouble from fetching wine glasses to leaning scarfs loaning maps. We will definitely return and recommend the place to others. thanks again!!

“Excellent place to stay”

I recently stayed here for one night with my boyfriend. Angela & Mark are a lovely couple. Could not be more helpful. Shown up to our room & offered help with our bags (never get that in big hotels anymore!) The room was very comfortable, nice spacious bathroom & a fantastic view across the lake. No tea & coffee facilities in the room but they were just outside in the corridor. We went out to eat in Grasmere that evening & they offered us a lift down and recommended places to eat. On our return they came to greet us & took a real interest in where we'd been.. Breakfast was delicious & cooked how ever you wanted. We went for a walk & Angela suggested we leave our car in their car park so we didn't have to pay in the village & Mark took us down to the start of our walk & pointed out the way. Typical to the Lakes the weather turned & by the time we returned we were soaked. Even tho we'd checked out we were offered a hot shower, warm towels & a room to get changed & dried out in. Mark even put my coat on a spin for me! Would definitely stay again - lovely, lovely people.

“We just keep coming back!”

We have now visited Angela and Martin at least half a dozen times and following another fantastic visit this week, we're about to book our next fix! We have two small children (21 months and 4 years old) so the welcoming guest living room, with its log fire is a haven for us in the evening, whilst the children sleep just up stairs. The rooms are clean and homely, the hosts fantastic and as for the breakfasts ... delicious! Both Angela and Martin are friendly and take a real interest in your plans for each day, offering books, maps and advice when needed. They are also fantastic with the children, my oldest daughter often asks, 'When are we going to see Angela and Martin again?' Without doubt, our favourite B&B.

Room Tip: If you don't mind missing out on the lake view, the large room at the top is great for a family...

“The best B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

First stay and recommend unreservedly. Angela and Martin amazing hosts. So helpful as to where to go and how to get there - nothing too much trouble. Maps galore. Happy to dry your clothes if you get soaked. Spacious room, spacious bathroom and a shower that WORKS. Wonderful view. Accomodating re diet restrictions etc - Angela even bought me some fat free yoghurt, and some to take with me when we left! So there is no tea/coffee in the room (there is outside lounge, so not a problem) or TV. Doesn't affect stay - still the best B &B. Thank you Angela and Martin!

“Stunning Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

After many visits over the last thirty years we have never tired of visiting Banerigg! The wonderful hospitality, accommodation, food and happy atmosphere are outstanding and, as always, we are looking forward to our next stay. It’s lovely to know that our children (both now in their 20’s) still want to visit and, with some collusion with Angela and Martin, our son and his family had booked in and were waiting in the sitting room to surprise us when we visited earlier this year!
The views over the lake are stunning and Grasmere village, just a short walk from the guest house, is abundant in charm and historical interest. Look out for local wildlife - deer, badgers and red squirrels if you are lucky. A word of warning however – you will need to go on a serious diet when you get home, those breakfasts are just too yummy.
See you soon Angela and Martin!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are cosy and spacious - the rooms to the front of the house have the best views.
