5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

justbreak just returned from a two night winter special - what a fabulous hotel! very attentive and friendly staff, very welcoming atmosphere with log fires and comfortable places to sit throughout the hotel. classic. Double bedroom was spacious and beautifully furnished.Pool very clean and warm. restaurant food was fantastic - every mouthful was delicious!Eat in the bistro on the second night - simpler menu but also delicious. Very enjoyable stay - we will return!

“Very Friendly staff but god awful food”

Id like to start by saying that the people who work at the Wordsworth are among the friendliest and most helpfull i have come across. My Fiancee has coelliac (gluten intolerance) but was catered for excellently including gluten free scones for afternoon tea and Toast in the morning. This may not sound like alot but its still quite rare for hotels the know what coelliac is let alone cater for it. The resturant manager in particliar was brilliant. However now comes my only moan. The food quality was terrible and grossly over-priced. Im sure some would argue prehaps my pallet isnt trained for such food but i would say that the nicest thing about the lakes is the sense of tradition that you get from being there and in my opnion this food doesnt fit in with the surroundings. On our second night we went out to the Dog and Gun in Keswick. We had two meals much nicer and a quarter of the price. Overall I would recommend staying here but eat elsewhere

My very nice staff have been deeply offended by your comments, you compliment the food your husband had and then are very unkind about your meal. It all comes from the same kitchen, which has been awarded two AA rosettes year on year. I do wish you had told me at the time you didn't enjoy the food and we would have prepared something that suited your pallet rather than write extremely unkind comments on here. Hopefully people will see that not everyone shares your view.

Just had a lovely weekend making the most of their winter sale offer which was excellent value for money. Beautiful food, especially the evening meal which was outstanding. Courteous and helpful staff, not a bit stuffy and formal, nice room, lovely pool and jacuzzi. Hotel was full in January which I think speaks for itself.
Brillant !

Room Tip: A view of the hills is nice as the basic rooms look over the car park.

“Fabulous Winter Break”

Lovely hotel, with amazing staff and lovely manager thank you for a perfect stay.

Myself and my friend throughly enjoyed our meals both nights in the Signature restaurant, it was excellent from start to finish. The breakfast was as perfect as our evening meals.

The resident lounge and garden room are lovely and cosy, and the open fire which you can sit round on lovely sofa in the reception so warm and welcoming on the cold and frosty days we had.

The room we stayed in was a village view twin room, it is a lovely room and en suite, everything about the room was perfect in every way.

Unfortunately we were unable to try the spa treatments and the leisure facilities we physically ran out of time.We will be trying them on our next visit.

We will certainly be returning for another a visit

Many thanks to the staff and manager again for such a wonderful stay
