As a B&B it's OK but I felt the Crown had been subject to a corporate makeover and looked like any number of chain pubs across the country. If you want a place that has a sense of the Lakes and a traditional pub feel I'd recommend the Sun.

We stayed at the Crown Inn on our first leg of our tour of scotland, the weather unfortunately was terrible but the staff at the Crown Inn more than made up for that with their attentiveness and eagerness to please.

Our room was really good and the bathroom was great. all in all a really good experience and a great evening meal and breakfast too!

I have visited the Crown before on walking weekends and decided to take advantage of their Sunday to Friday half board break. What an excellant value!
A warm greeting on arrival. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. They cared about everything including trivial issues e.g. wine in the wine cooler on the table prior to being seated for the evening meal. My girlfriend on a couple of meals was unable to finish her meal due to the large portions. She ended up opting to have just a starter and dessert, which she found ample. A good selection on the menu as well.
The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. On a minor issue the mattress was too hard, which was mentioned to the management who stated they were progressively replacing matresses and would put that room on priority.
I will definately be visiting again, and would without hesitation recommend it to anybody.

This inn is in an excellent location, only half a mile from Lake Coniston. The welcome was warm and made to feel at home right away. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The food is wonderful and service good. Helpful staff at all tines.
