“Lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We would thoroughly recommend this B&B as it is central to Ambleside, walking distance to restaurants, cinema and even Windemere lake.

Breakfast are great the full English was cooked to perfection and on the second day I opted for the homemade muesli and fresh fruit salad, gorgeous!

Clean and comfy bedroom with all the usual extras provided, ours had a bath, a rarity in B & B’s these days. A must for our tired legs!

Lots of help with maps on offer along with detailed information for walks, the recommendations were perfect for us (we’re not big walkers!!)

An added bonus was the use of the parking permit which we used in Ambleside and Grasmere, saved us a fortune!

It’s definitely one place we highly recommend. We’ll be booking again soon.

“What a great little place....”

We stayed for a couple of nights in October and were very happy with the location, room, excellent breakfasts and helpful service from the owners, Doreen & Mike.
They even lent us a map and walking guide which we used to climb the hill (Loughrigg) behind the guest house, something we would not usually do, great views over Ambleside and down the lake!
Ambleside has loads of places to eat, Doreen sent us to Fellini's (vegetarian food and cinema) and the Glass House, both excellent.
All in all Lattendales is a great place to stay, one to recommend!

“Very nice, with small drawbacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Lattendales is a very pretty place with rooms that are reasonably priced, small but comfortable. The proprietor was always friendly and available.
There were two small drawbacks.
One, the whole B&B was advertised as having WI-FI, but using an all but brand new Mac Powerbook that works perfectly, I was unable to pick up a signal in my room. The same for my iPhone. While there are coffee places in the village with free WI-FI, it would have been great to have a better system installed in their B&B - especially when you're traveling since we wanted to check out where to go next and couldn't do that.
Two, it might be the general practice in England, but I would liked to have seen some different offerings for breakfast. We stayed three nights and each morning we had the choice of delicious muesli and yoghurt or a standard English Breakfast prepared perfectly. Again, this might be just how B&Bs do breakfasts in England, but some variety might have been nice.

“Excellent stay for second time”

This was our second visit to Lattendales and we weren't disappointed. Doreen is very friendly and welcoming and her husband Mike cooks the best breakfast in the Lakes. A very comfortable and relaxing stay yet again, which is what we needed. We wished we could have stayed another night for more pampering - two just wasn't enough! We will definitely be returning. Thank you both.

“A lovely location for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We saw the vacancy sign & decided to have a look. As soon as Doreen greeted us & showed us round, it felt right, especially when she left us on our own to decide. We had a great weekend in Ambleside. It's a lovely location, situated well for walking in the hills, seeing the Lakes, visiting places of interest or shopping. We also went to the local cinema & saw our first 3D film! There is plenty of choice in the area for eating out. We were very impressed with Lattendales, clean, tidy, homely, comfortable, yet very up to date. The choice of breakfast was good and the food prepared by Mike excellent. Wonderful hospitality. Doreen was very friendly and helpful, a wealth of information about the area, even lending us a map & suggesting a walk, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel is central in Ambleside. Parking is just round the back with a permitt which is included. We have stayed in Ambleside before and if the occasion arose for us to be able to return for Bed & Breakfast in Ambleside again, we would certainly go back to the hospitality of Doreen & Mike at Lattendales. Thank you.

Room Tip: Room 3 at front has a bay window.
