We stayed for 3 nights at Lattendales in April and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The B&B is situated in a great location in Ambleside town centre which means it’s perfectly located for amenities, shops and walks. If your room is situated in the back of the house as ours was then you’ll get a lovely view out over the church and other parts of the town.
The hostess was very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful with everything. If you’re planning to undertake a trip out, a walk or a climb then I absolutely recommend speaking to the hostess because not only will she tell you all you need to know about where you’re going, how to get there and the best clothes to wear she’ll also provide you with routes and maps!
The room itself was very nice and tastefully decorated and for an attic style bedroom was adequately spacious for our needs. There was plenty of wardrobe and draw space for our clothes and various other storage units by the bed. The bed was comfortable enough and we slept nicely. However, for a perfect nights sleep we felt that the bed would have benefited from a thicker mattress as the one we had was a little thin.
The en suite bathroom was light, airy and clean with the usual complementary soap and shampoos provided and although there wasn’t a shower facility in our room, this wasn’t a problem as we prefer bathing anyway.
Breakfast is provided at no extra cost and there’s plenty and more to choose from on the menu. The food is delicious and very well cooked (I’m told by my partner that the full English breakfast is very good) although I opted for the fruit, yoghurt, toast and cereal on various days. There was only one issue I had with breakfast and that was with the temperature in the dining room, it wasn't warm enough on at least two occasions but that might have had more to do with out early morning starts rather than the fault of the guest house as it soon warmed up.
All in all I highly recommend Lattendales Guest House to everyone planning on staying in Ambleside. We're planning on visiting the Lake District again very soon and plan on revisiting this B&B because of it's excellent value for money, its location, its friendly atmosphere and lastly because it's just a thoroughly nice place to stay!
