“Relaxing long weekend at Norwood House”

I cannot fault the standard of accommodation and hospitality at Norwood House. We stayed with two other couples and we each had high standard rooms with every comfort. The welcome was warm and the breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Norwood House is conveniently situated in the village of Ambleside and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, pubs and bars. Lindsey kindly advised us on interesting and picturesque tour routes for each day taking in the beautiful lakes and pretty villages. We would definitely go back to Norwood House.

norwood house ambleside is a very nice house ,stayed in room 6, not a bad side room, a big TV , bathroom a little poky but clean ,breakfast was very nice, you don't get a choice , but if you wanted something different you only had to ask Keith is very friendly guy and very helpful . it is a 4 star silver which i didn't think it warranted that , but i would stay again , if in the area. is close to the shops and bars. Went to Stampers which is at the top of the street and the Glasshouse 5min walk for meals both very nice .

“Warm and welcoming”

Norwood House has accomodation for up to 8 couples and our room was on the third floor. It was comfortable and spacious with ensuite.
Pillows were a bit hard but the bed was comfy.
Breakfasts were very good (full English) and fresh coffee was available along with fruit juice and tea.
The proprietors looked after us well.
The only concern for me was the parking arrangements. There are 3 or 4 spaces reserved for Norwood House a couple of hundred yards away near a public car park. This isn't a secure car park although the area does seem ok.

First of all we would like to express our gratitude to these and all our previous guests for taking the time and trouble to post a review for us on this site. It is reviews such as these which help us to move further up the rankings for Ambleside guest accommodation.
We would just like to add to the comments about the private off-road parking which is provided free of charge to our guests. We actually have spaces for all of our rooms in three different areas - not just four or five spaces as suggested in this review! Of course these guests could not be expected to know that!! One of these areas in which we have four spaces is a secured yard and we provide our guests with keys for access. If any particular concerns had been expressed to us then we would, of course have been happy to give directions to this area!

Even establsihments with on-site parking can very rarely make this completely secure! Alhough Ambleside, it has to be said, has an exceptionally low crime rate and has actually been voted the most desireable place to live in the UK!

We are pleased that this friendly couple had a pleasant stay with us at Norwood House - it was a pleasure to have them stay with us!

We went to Lake District to go hiking. This Place is so gorgeous. The landscape is a dream. This accomodation was perfect because the Housemaster was at the mountain rescue for a long time..so he had some really nice tips where to take some nice hiking tours. The house was lovely decorated, the rooms were clean and they had their own bathroom. The housemaster and wife were very kind. We loved it there and are planing to go back some day.
I really recommend this accomodation and this town Ambleside in the Lake District .

“2nd stay - Friendly, great breakfast with the best coffee”

This was our second stay at Norwood House and we were delighted to receive the same friendly welcome from Keith & Lindsey. The accommodation was clean & tidy and the room included a large tv and a lovely view as we were on the top floor.

The breakfast was plentiful and they offerred choice and nothing was too much trouble. They also served the best coffee - brilliant to set you up for the day. They provided excellent advice on places to visit and where to eat - all of which we took up and thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely visit again - KT & Jon
