Norwood House is a perfect place to stay when in Lake District. The rooms are spacious, cozy and very warm. The owner is very welcoming. The bathroom was a tad bit small but was very clean. The B&B has wifi access which is fast and easy to use. The owner provides personal treatment which makes you feel at home. The B&B is located very close to the city centre, Ambleside.
The Lake is 1m from Norwood House. Lake district is a beautiful place to visit.. and the stay at Norwood House compliments perfectly..
we had troiuble finding a b& b in ambleside that would accept a 1 night booking at the weekend and Norwood House only took us because they happened to have a room free for one night. However we were very pleased with our stay. Very friendly & helpful welcome from Lindsay. Comfortable room with great view over the rooftops to Wansfell.
Excellent breakfast and the b & b is situated right in the centre but on a quiet street off the main through road.
My wife and I booked in for 2 nights near the end of March 2011 after finding the Norwood via Google. Wasn’t disappointed, bang in the centre of Ambleside with all the local amenities on your door-step. The fact that the weather was brilliant was just the icing on the cake. Plenty of local walks to cater for all tastes and abilities.
More about the Norwood. Very friendly owners only too willing to advise from best places to eat (personal recommendations are always so much better) to walks and local attractions. Room was very clean and comfortable with all the tea & coffee making facilities, flat screen TV etc. The Breakfast was really top class with a wide choice including a really great full English breakfast which made full use of local ingredients.
Would definitely stop here again, in fact we are already talking about booking another trip later in the year.
I stayed here for three nights midweek with my girlfriend and her parents.
We found the service offered by Lindsay to be really friendly.
We had booked rooms 2 (double) and 4 (double/Twin). Both of these were in excellent condition with a good selection of drinks and large screen TV's with Freeview. We even returned home to find our pyjamas had been folded and placed in the bed, which we thought was a really nice touch. The water pressure in the shower was probably a bit lighter than normal but it didnt really bother us and i didnt feel the need to complain.
Lindsey had a good knowledge of the local area and gave us a few good tips about where to go and in what order which we followed.
Car parking was offsite (less than 2 minutes walk) although you can park outside the B&B from 1800 to 1000 the next day before the traffic wardens are out, even then you can set your disc to 1000 and stay untill 1100.
The town itself is probably my favourite in the area, with a LOT of restaurants and a fair few pubs, good for real ale, for its size (Churchills does Bingo on a Wednesday and the food in The White Lion is really nice, although not local!) to wander around in the evening.
All in all we had a brilliant time and if we were to come back to Ambleside, we would definitely stay here again.
