Having seen the reviews on TripAdvisor, I have to say I felt this B&B was ok, but a little over-rated. It is in a good location, but we had to park around the corner on the street, which is a little inconvenient when it rains. The B&B owners are friendly and helpful, giving advice on places to eat/walk, which is nice. The breakfasts (a major selling point for us) were ok - yes, the pancakes are fluffy, tasty American style and a good way to start the day, but other than that, the meal was average. The room we had was small but clean and comfortable. The ensuite was small, but had what we needed. The room was quiet, and we did get a good night's sleep. All in all, having stayed in other B&Bs in Ambleside, I'd say this B&B is average, and would recommend it to others.

We're sorry it was raining when these guests arrived, but don't understand why the parked around the corner. All our double rooms come with free parking, either a permit for the local car parks, or an off-street parking space. Our breakfast has received the Enjoy England Breakfast Award in 2010 and again in 2011, and scored in the top 10% of breakfasts in the country! Perhaps these guests did not take full advantage on their one morning with us of all that was on offer for breakfast....organic orange juice, fresh fruit and organic yoghurt, a choice of Kelloggs cereals, award winning Cumberland sausage and home cured bacon from our local butcher, free range eggs, vine ripened tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, etc. They didn't try our overstuffed omelettes (cheese, tomato, or mushroom), our eggy bread (sweet or savory), or even a full English breakfast! At least they agreed with all the other reviewers regarding our delicious homemade pancakes! Perhaps it was just the rain that put a damper on their holiday.
