“Best value Guest House in Ambleside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Our first stay at the Wanslea, but surely not our last!

On arrival we were given a warm welcome, and even helped with our bags to our room. We stayed in the african room, which was large, warm, well furnished and immaculately clean. The large spa bath was a real luxury and an amazing extra considering the price for the room (£30 per person per night)

Breakfast was very good, and plenty of it - again the staff were attentive but not intrusive.

The only slight negatives are that breakfast is only served 08.30 - 09.00 on all days, and that checkout is at 10.00 . Maybe extending breakfast until 09.30 and an 11.00 checkout would be better.

We will definitely be staying at Wanslea again - it would be very difficult to find better quality at these prices in Ambleside!

Room Tip: Parking is limited to 4 cars, but we parked for free for the whole weekend at the top of the road (2...

“lovely weekend stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed at the Wanslea at the weekend. Friday 3rd February 2012. We stayed in the Arabian room which was lovely very clean,The starry ceiling was romantic. The bathroom was gorgeous with a spa bath ( which changed colours at a touch of a button. Lovely fluffy clean towels. As it was a belated Christmas present for us both. It was a lovely relaxing break. The owner was lovely and friendly. The room had a big TV with hairdryer aswell. The breakfast was so enjoyable really filled you up for the day. We would certainly stay here again. It also snowed which just made the weekend so picturesque. The centre of town is just a short walk away.

“Excellent Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We first came across Wanslea a few years ago and have now stayed many times. On every occasion we have been made to feel very welcome, had a lovely room and cracking breakfast. Parking can be quite a problem in Ambleside as a lot of accommodation doesn't have onsite parking but this guesthouse has a small car park too. In addition, I believe there is car park passes available for the car park situated about 1 minute's walk away so no problem there.

We've stayed in a fair few guesthouses in the area but now we have found Wanslea, we don't bother going to any other.

Last visit we got to stay in the African Room which has 180 degree views and is a really good size - would definitely recommend!

Thanks Wanslea!!

Room Tip: All rooms at the front of the property have good views of the fells.

“Last minute trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We booked at the last minute and stayed in the Arica room. It was very, very comfortable, had fab spa bath and the staff were very friendly, we also enjoyed a full english breakfast. Would definately book again when we return to the area.

“excellant guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

i recently stayed at this hotel a few days ago for 2 nights and paid a small price, upon arrival the guesthouse was lovely and clean and the owners were very polite and couldnt do enough for us, the room was bright and clean and there were tea and coffee facilities in the room theres even a small off road car park, hotel was centrally located with ambleside town centre just 5 minutes walk in one direction and lake windermere was 5 minutes in the other direction. had a lovely meal at matthew bistro very cheap and big portions, windermere is only 5 minutes away the town is small and compact but walk the slight distance or take the bus down the hill to bowness on windermere plenty of shops and eateries there. all together a lovely stay and place to visit, will certainly go back.

Room Tip: all rooms very good
