“Best Breakfast Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed at the Fisherbeck in July 2011. Our welcome was warm and friendly and while our room was not large and was on the second floor, the view more than compensated. Our breakfast was freshly made and produced exactly to our requirements. The staff were were very patient and helpful, even with the more difficult guests. We certainly expect to return again to such a wonderful find.

Dear Squirrels,

Please forgive my lack of formality.

We were thrilled to read your very complimentary review following your stay with us last summer. As I cook breakfast every morning, with either my husband or with our lovely manager Rachel it is very gratifying to hear we are doing a decent job.

Thanks also for your kind comments on the level of service you received, something we take very seriously.

And I am afraid these old buildings were not designed to have all en-suite bedrooms so consequently each one of our rooms is virtually a different size or shape. If you do come again, as you have intimated, please ask about some of the other room choices you might have, and as you say the views really are wonderful, aren't they.

Kind regards
Gillian Lane

“Fabulous late break”

Stayed at Fisherbeckhotel for a 3 night break late November 2011. Lovely spacious room with view out to front with nice view of fells. Spotlessly clean, friendly owners and helpful welcoming staff. Breakfast is amazing! You will want for nothing, great quality food and lots of it. We managed a coffee and cake late afternoon even after walking miles we were never hungry. Recommend eating at the Log House opposite, again simply amazing flavours a real treat. Eat at the white lion for great value easy food. Weather wet but could have been worse still loads to do and great walking area. Enjoyed parking my car and forgetting about it until it was time to drive home. Was so relaxing. Will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: We booked a standard room but were upgraded as work was taking place and the owners did not want us...

“Fisherbeck hotel”

We have just visited this hotel in November, it is a family run business. We had a very good room with a balcony. Had the weather been warmer it would have been the ideal place for an evening drink with a view of the hills. The bathroom was very good with twin basins, modern shower and spa type bath. The hotel is set back from the main road so the road noise is not that obtrusive and located a five minute walk into the centre of Ambleside. The breakfasts are great, they keep you going all day. No evening meals (eat at the Salutation Hotel, the food is very good and very reasonably priced compared to elsewhere in the town) but there is a small drinks bar in the reception for cold and hot drinks and there is a private lounge for hotel guests. The staff and owners are very pleasant and helpful. We would visit again.

Room Tip: if you are a couple ask for room 2, slightly more expensive but worth it. There is family accommoda...

Stayed 3 nights in a Garden Room which was superb ,spacious modern room with a 5 star en suite Bathroom. The breakfasts were delicous, Porridge with Honey ,cream and whisky sautered Sultanas followed by a number of choices from the menu including Smoked Haddock with Herb Butter, or Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon. Enjoyed a Nightcap in the comfortable lounge, Will be back for sure.

“Welcoming, very comfortable hotel. Would definitely recommend.”

We've just had a fantastic three night break at the Fisherbeck staying in one of the garden rooms. The room was very large and finished to a very high standard, with a fabulous bathroom with bath & separate rain shower. The breakfasts were amazing with lots of choice & a special each day. The hotel is only a five minute walk away to the centre of the village and there's plenty of parking. The owners & staff couldn't be more welcoming. This was our first stay & we'll definitely be back. Would certainly recommend.
