Great location only 1 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. Great value and possibly the cleanest rooms and bathrooms I've seen in a hostel. Clean bedding also provided. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here if I return to Ambleside. My only minor issues were that we booked a private room for 6 people but ended up in a room for 8 with 2 others, and that we were given the wrong access code to get back into the hostel - this resulted in one of our party having to wake the one of the owners!

It's a good place to stay. The location is convenient - central, but off the main road - it's clean and the facilities are good. Seemed to be a mix of older hiker types and younger backpackers. Decent atmosphere, without being too much of a party hostel.

One major negative, however, is that the place is closed during the day. I arrived in the afternoon and, as nobody answered the door, I had to lump my bag around with me for about 4 hours until I could check in. Not ideal. They could also do with lockers in the rooms - I doubt you'd get any shifty characters staying in a place like this, but it would still give a bit of peace of mind for the more paranoid travellers like myself.

Location provided easy access to Central Ambleside but there was no parking available, strict times to be out of the room when they were allegedly being cleaned, soap was never replenished in the communal toilets and only 3 showers per floor.

Good clean friendly and honest accommodation. A great location a very short walk from Ambleside centre.
