It's a good place to stay. The location is convenient - central, but off the main road - it's clean and the facilities are good. Seemed to be a mix of older hiker types and younger backpackers. Decent atmosphere, without being too much of a party hostel.

One major negative, however, is that the place is closed during the day. I arrived in the afternoon and, as nobody answered the door, I had to lump my bag around with me for about 4 hours until I could check in. Not ideal. They could also do with lockers in the rooms - I doubt you'd get any shifty characters staying in a place like this, but it would still give a bit of peace of mind for the more paranoid travellers like myself.

Location provided easy access to Central Ambleside but there was no parking available, strict times to be out of the room when they were allegedly being cleaned, soap was never replenished in the communal toilets and only 3 showers per floor.

Good clean friendly and honest accommodation. A great location a very short walk from Ambleside centre.

Stayed here for the Great North Swim. Very warm welcome by the friendly staff, room clean and good kitchen and rest facilities. Thoroughly recommended and a great location being very close to Ambleside centre. Would definitely stay here again and loved that a light breakfast was provided!! First backpackers i've stayed in in the UK and a great example :)
