My wife and I stayed here for one night in September 2011 and had a brilliant time. We had spent the day mountain biking and were thoroughly soaked and covered in mud by the time we arrived. Simon greeted us and found somewhere for our bikes to stay without letting any reaction to our mucky state show on his face whatsoever. After showing us to our room (apparently the only one with a sofa, which is great for watching TV) Simon gave us heaps of advice on where to go for good local beer and great dining experiences. He had such a detailed knowledge of the place and really understood what we were after.

The breakfast was notable for the fantastic range of jams and spreads on offer. Afterwards, Simon took the time to make some really well considered recommendations for our walk that day and got the map out to indicate the best routes, even bringing the walks to life by quoting Wainwright's opinions on each route from memory. As so often, it is the people which make a place special and Simon has a real gift for hosting. All I can say to the other B&Bs which top TA's list in Ambleside is watch and learn!

We stayed 2 nights as we had a wedding in the area. The landlord was very welcoming and helpful to get our car park sorted, gave us a great suggestion for a pub to get a couple of nice beers from. The room are very nice and clean, it's warm and all the ingredients for a good night are there. The breakfast was spot on too, even though we missed it the first morning.

We had a great stay at Kent House, Ambleside. The Guest House is situated right in the heart of Ambleside and the owners were very welcoming and hospitable. Simon & Sandra clearly know the area inside out and were able to suggest great restaurants and day trips to suit our needs. Thank you, Sophie & Craig.

Just arrived home from our second stay here and Sandra and Simon were perfect hosts again. A beautiful house in a lovely setting offering the best breakfast EVER!!
Situated a stones throw from an array of eateries and traditional pubs, it's a cosy place to relax after a long walk and a pint (or two) of cask ale.
We will be back to Ambleside very soon and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Highly recommend for a relaxed and welcoming place to stay.
