“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Really pleased I chose this hotel over the more expensive ones close by, I had read the reviews on Trip advisor but given that they were mainly positive, I chose this one due to a price of £30 for the Saturday night
The hotel is bright and modern with welcoming staff, rooms are of a very good standard with an excellent bathroom complete with power shower.
I found the bed and pillows really comfortable, I mention this as I had noticed that these had scored poorly in past reviews, so it looks like we have a hotel chain that listens to its customers but more importantly does something about it!

My sleep was not affected by any road noise or late night revellers.

I nearly gave the hotel a lower score due to the lack of a car park but given that I only paid £30 it was only a minor irritation.
Be warned that if staying on a Saturday night the car park on Osbourne st - the nearest one I think, closes on a Saturday night and does not open until the Monday morning.
The next car park is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and bear this in mind if you have cases etc although you can park in the Staples car park to drop off bags etc as you get the 1st hour for free.

“Paper thin walls, hard pillows and matress”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Stayed two nights on business, walls are paper thin and it was so bad on the second night with the noise from a bunch of teenagers that I had to ask to be moved at 02:30.
Pillows must be years old, they are like a sack of spuds and the matress isn't much better.

You can't park at the hotel but they do give a note to take to the multi story so that you pay £5 instead of full price.

On the plus side the rooms and bedding are clean (carpets are old and stained but are cleaned), and the shower is very good.

Breakfast is quite nice, good quality bacon and sausage etc and plenty of yogurts, coffee, juice etc.

It cost me £46 per night which wouldn't be bad if you got any sleep. If you plan ahead or pay a bit more you could stay at the premier inn which is in a different class.

There's also a guest house called Westfield House thats really good for £40 per night but unfortunately I hadn't booked ahead so it was full.

This place is probably ideal for people on nights out etc, I wouldn't stay again unless the other two were full.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are noisy as there is a little car park at the back (that you can't use) a...

“Stayed over on uni business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed over last week the night before an exam. Room was okay - a good size although perhaps ready for a little renovation. Bathroom was very clean and the shower was fantastic. Main gripe with the room was the location of plug sockets which meant it was difficult to use both the kettle and tv at the same time, and also the gentleman who checked me out did not speak, thank or enquire how my stay had been. Nevertheless, much better than the travelodge which i use a few times.

“Ibis Hull - exactly what is on the tin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Having travelled throughout the uk, you tend to get to see most of the big chains, and ibis is one of the chain hotels I'm never quite sure what to expect, ultra modern, chalet type or middle of the road, this one plays it safe, it's in the right location, just near to city centre, no car parking though, ibis why do you do this? Ibis Leeds is exactly the same, great location and no car parking, the rooms were clean but not the modern ibis bedroom I've seen elsewhere, the food is terrible, certainly not the same as two years ago, now just seems uninventive microwave food but that is the same at all the ibis hotels recently, better to go to the weather spoons 5mins walk away, or even better only 10mins walk away are a cinema with nandos and other restaurants, the staff here are great though, and for that I forgive ibis their eccentricities and will be back!

Room Tip: Get a room facing the back if the hotel away from the sirens of ambulances and police cars - oh and...
