“Great location, decent place, friendly staff”

The staff were really friendly, welcoming and genuine. The room was pretty decent although the shower could have been better; overall for the price it was definitely a good sized room with a comfy bed and ok decor. The location is excellent and the breakfast was also really nice and worth getting up early for. Some of the communal areas (like the hallways) do need a lick of paint; that said although we did not really spend any time in it the bar and restaurant they clearly had recently been refurbished alongside the room itself. On the balance and for the price I would go back again and not hesitate in recommending it.

“Room 10 needs upgrade”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My husband & I have just returned from 1 night at the Royal Wells Hotel. We stayed in room 10 which is one of the suites. Our initial impression was what a lovely room but after staying the night decided it was in need of an update and a good clean.

The room carpet was very dirty and some of the fittings needed a good dusting. The bed looks lovely but every time you turn over the bed creaks. One of the mugs supplied had two large chunks out of the rim, which was replaced by reception when asked.

The bathroom looks lovely, with a victorian claw bath & a large shower, but some areas need a good clean & the paintwork needs to be repainted. The toliet flush was almost coming off.

My husband & I have nothing but praise for the way the restaurant has been updated, it looks really nice. We had an evening meal which was excellent and I cannot fault the service provided by the waiter & waitress. Breakfast was also excellent and again the service was first class.

“Pleasant and helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

My wife and I booked to stay here the night as we were attending a wedding reception at another venue. My wife is heavily pregnant and I mentioned this on the phone when I booked the room. When we arrived they had reserved a car parking space for us right by the door even though they had their own wedding party there and the place was packed. We had a small but perfectly adequate double room decorated in a modern style. Early evening my wife wasn't feeling well so we decided to go home. As we went to check out, the friendly receptionist waived our bill which we thought was a very kind gesture given we had spent the best part of the afternoon in the room. The hotel was clean and had a bar and a very smart restaurant on site. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay here again and hopefully stay the night next time!

“Excellent value, lovely dog friendly hotel in a great location”

A grand hotel, great value £80 b&b for a double room, dog friendly, our dog was allowed in the bar which was large and funky, they allowed us to eat breakfast in the bar so we didn't have to leave our dog (understandably he wasn't allowed in the restaurant) the service was great very friendly welcoming staff the food was perfectly cooked ample parking in a great location, room was clean and spacious, all in all we would go back, only slight comment would be that the decor looks a bit tired in places & is probably soon due for a spruce up. Thanks for your hospitality!

“Elegant, Stylish & Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Perfect sevice, from the booking to the check-out. Unlike some other rveiviewers, we don't worry if the shelf in the bathroom is less than 4 inches wide.

A lovely, charming, hotel with a great atmosphere and staff, and very good breakfast.

Our children loved the interconnecting room between the Victoria and Albert Rooms,, and we appreciated the great views and overall ambience of this gem in Tunbridge Wells.

Room Tip: Rooms 6&7 with the interconnection and great views.
