“Perfectly acceptable for a weekend away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The staff were perfectly friendly, and the location is great for taking in the town by foot. The rooms were clean and I was impressed by the high pressure shower. I must admit to feeling a bit cheated when I was told that a Full English wasn't included in the room price, but the breakfast that was included was acceptable: croissants, danishes, bread tools, cereal, juice and coffee.

Room Tip: nform staff beforehand if you have any mobility issues as there are lots of stairs.

“Musty smell”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Small room , corridors and room smelt very musty.
Bed comfortable enough and staff were on the whole helpful.
Parking good and good location on seafront.
Advertised breakfast was included but when you get there you are told that it is £5 extra for a cooked breakfast!

“The UNcomfortable Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

They say youpays your money you takes your choice! well I am glad I bartered on the price (A TOP TIP!) such a shame when we stayed it looked as though nothing had been touched for twenty years the room was dowdy the beds UN comfortable but the staff were pleasant it still felt like a throw back to the seventies.

Room Tip: Try and baqrter on the price!

“You get what you pay for!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

We wanted a hotel close to Broadstairs with a sea view, car park and a lift and one that did not allow pets. We had read the reviews before we went and wasn’t that surprised to find that it was indeed a very tatty hotel in desperate need of a makeover. The car park had plenty of room and there was heaps of free parking outside. We had the honeymoon suite which was large but old fashioned. Four poster bed that creaked so much on every move, an old style wardrobe, dressing table, a tatty sofa and a flat screen TV. A bonus was the enclosed balcony overlooking the sea. Arriving on a Sunday at lunchtime we were informed that we could not have any bar food such as a sandwich until after 5.00pm. So we ordered a salad from the restaurant menu which was served in keeping to the hotel’s style – old fashioned. A heap of Iceburg lettuce, some sliced cucumber and tomato, a spoonful of beetroot a piece of dodgy looking ham with a suspicious green hue and coleslaw all topped off with a spring onion! The restaurant menu is typical pub grub but at very reasonable prices. Virtually everything is served with chips, onion rings, mushrooms and seasonal veg. Was I too surprised when my steak and chips arrived with broccoli, carrots and Brussel sprouts? No it seemed par for the course really! Breakfast was really diabolical. Bread couldn’t have been sliced any thinner, a cheap array of jams and spreads, slimy processed ham, wrapped cheese and the worst pre packed croissants I have ever seen. It was truly horrid, a complete let down. There really is no need to serve food this bad. Better bread, freshly baked croissants, fresh sliced ham and quality yogurts and spreads would improve it no end. The only saving grace was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. We paid £75 per night for the honeymoon suite. A case of you get what you pay for!

Room Tip: Choose a room with sea view, the ones at the back overlook the car park and have the noise from the...

“good for visiting area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We normally stay at this hotel because they give good service for Bed and breakfast.
reasonable priced and not bad rooms. Breakfast is continental but you can order a full breakfast if you want but we found no need. You can get lunch and evening meals at a reasonable price.
