The train station is very close and train noise is NOT an issue. If your room fronts the street you will have enough noise. B&B is easy walking distance to town, less than a mile. We arrive by cruise ship and a tax is necessary. And a bit costly for the 2 mile ride. They 'got ya!'
Pros: Location, free interent (a bit weak), room clean, and owner helpful.
Cons: no common area or central place to sit and meet others, breakfast must have been extra. Didn't do it. Room was small. Walked to town and eat where the old folks eat. Don't know where to eat, I look for where the very old locals are eating. Generally you can count on good common food at a decent price. (not always)

We stayed in Dover two nights and this was the first night. The B&B is located just accross the street from the Rail Way Station and it is a 5 minute walk to downtown. The waterfront is about 10-15 minutes away. You can reach the castle in about 25 minutes by foot. Check in was easy and no problem. The room was very small but clean. The main problem was the the noise coming from the outside. Folkestone Road is a frequently used access road. Even during the night there were cars going by every minute. If you don't hear cars you can hear your romm neighbours. The walls are very thin!

A basic hotel with no frills. Although it is a bed and breakfast, breakfast comes as an optional feature at a hefty price. Service is friendly, the hotel is only steps away from the Dover Priory Central station.
The castle, the downtown area and white cliffs are at a walking distance.
I was given a 'more quiet' room, futher away from the main road and the noise level was okay at night. I had to leave the room opened during the day as the room needed lots of fresh air.
The room meets the basic 2 star hotel features. A safe place to crash at night.

My wife and I stayed here the night before our ferry crossing to France. We enjoyed our stay at this low cost B&B so much that we booked again for our return to Dover. Our double room with on-suite was clean and very cosy, although rather small, it was adequate for our needs. Lloyd and Theodora were pleasent and helpful. Our full english breakfasts were great. We will definitely stay here again.
