“Wonderful wedding day and would highly recommend to anyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

We had our wedding here on the 25 June 2011 and the day was perfect...
We was looked after very well and the place looked beautiful on our day. We looked for a small, private wedding and it fitted the bill perfect.
As the groom i arrived one hour before it was due to start and was welcomed and everything was in place.
Our wedding was outside and it looked amazing with such a nice gazebo./hut which made it look so much better. We had a three course meal was was very nice from starter to finish.
Table decs were brilliant as they were but we did add some of our own.
Evening was brill, great DJ supplied by them and everyone was up dancing the night away.
All in all day was 5 out of 5 and spot on.

So if you are looking for a great wedding for you money this is very highly recommended

“overall was a fab day, however the accomadtion was a bit of a let down”

we got married in the garden which was amazing coulod not fault the atmosphere or sunshine, however when paying of the remainder of the balance before the wedding the price was increased by £100 even tho had the remainder balance left to pay in writting. could not fault the staff on the day from manager to cleaner they were all amazing. we had several rooms for wedding guest and the bridal suite. our room was smaller than our guest rooms, which we paid over twice the price for which we were told we would get flowers, chocs and champers, none which were in the room when asked about them the following day was advised we would have to wait untill manager came in, however they were delivered to our room just before departure. would of been nice if the little things were all in place without having to ask. the food however was nice and we regularly go for meals out there, drinks are over priced but is a nice atmosphere. with all things considered we would recommend the gazzebo garden wedding to our friends as overall was a very good day and the little things that did go wrong was prob due to the managers prioritising the actual wedding making sure everything went without a hitch which it did wso can only thank the staff for making our day such a special one. thanks.

“Very expensive and on Sunday night closed with no staff on site”

We decided to stay in a 4 star hotel for the services such a business would provide, we paid £60 per night room only, Friday evening the bar shut at 10.30, Saturday was OK but Sunday the place was shut there were no staff on site at all and we could not get a drink or any food at all. We are thankful that we did not have any emergency because we would have had a huge problem as two of our party have heart problems.
My advice to anyone thinking of staying here is there is a Premier Inn just up the road.

I am sorry that your stay with us at The Swingate was not up to your satisfaction, can only apoligise. However i do feel that your review was unfair as i do remember your stay. We always have staff on site. On this particular night i answered your phone call and met you in the lobby to discuss your disatisfaction at the bar and restaurant being closed. When checking in to the hotel you should have been made aware of sunday closing times and from my understand you wern't, and as a way to apoligise i had offered to open the bar and kitchen especially for you. Albeit i can only apoligise on behave of all at the swingate.

“If you hate being overcharged don't go to the Swingate Inn”

Recently stayed at the Swingate and got overcharged by £12.00. Did not realise it at the time and the following morning there was nobody about to complain to. If you stay there do not have breakfast because it was £7.00 worth of rubbish

“Relaxing night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We stopped at the Inn overnight after returning from a long drive from Switzerland before continuing our journey home. The staff were most welcoming and the food in the restaurant and breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. The rooms were clean & bright , the only downside the water pressure needs attention as loo did not flush easily.
The Inn had a relaxing atmosphere and we would stop again.
