“One night in January 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Have stayed here probably 5-6 times in last five years. We had a 24 hour break in Jan 2012 without our 5 year old boy. We stayed in the staddle hut (first time in that room) which was lovely (hot water in shower doesn't last forever though) and cosy and warm. The spa was just as we remembered, well maintained and much enjoyed. Hotel service was good. The main reason we keep going to Walletts Court is almost certainly the food as it is consistently excellent and it didn't disappoint us this time. Restaurant service in the evening is a bit erratic but good, got slight overall impression that its not that smooth between kitchen/dining room etc. Bar service in evenings is excellent and the other guests friendly too. Breakfast was ok, small portions but afterwards we were happy! We will definitely stay at Walletts Court again. Also very good value for money. Really recommend the cooking.

Room Tip: We love Bobs Room.

“Fabulous New Years Eve Extravaganza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed for 3 nights which included dinner on New Years Eve and New Years Day.

A fantastic hotel, highly recommended. The staff are friendly and professional, the main hotel is warm and inviting with a lovely lounge in which to enjoy drinks and light food or to just relax on the sofas.

We booked a suite which was clean, comfortable and afforded a small lounge area and a very relaxing bathroom (roll top bath).

The New Years Eve dinner was incredible; 11 courses including champagne, and food cooked to perfection. It was timed brilliantly finishing the meal at 11.50pm just in time for the Big Ben Chimes and fireworks in the gardens.

We never felt rushed or told to leave the lounge. They were more than happy to chat and serve us until the early hours of the morning.

We had great breakfasts. The staff were always happy to accommodate all our menu requests and changes.

We used the spa facilities and had massage treatments. All great.

What a great place to be to end 2011 and begin 2012. All in all we have had a fabulous start to 2012. We will be going back.

Thank you Walletts.

“Disappointing”

Very disappointing... Attention to detail is defiantly not high on the list of priorities at wallett's court.
After having to move rooms due to lack of heat and wifi , we we're equally as dissapionted in the four poster room... Supposidly the best room in the hotel, according to reception.
Cheap, dated & tired furnishings in both rooms. Even the room service menu had seen better days... it doesn't cost much to change a piece of a4 paper does it?
Cutlery and bath robes discoloured, a piece of cardboard stuffed into a wardrobe door to keep it closed... A bathroom blind with mould stains on... All this and more.
This was all enough to ensure we don't return which is a shame as on a positive note the staff and breakfast where both lovely.

“Beautifull Country house and spa, disappointing room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

You will find, thanks to the GPS this lovely country house close to Dover , a quiet place in a quiet rolling landscape.
Bresides the main house, sevral buildings in a small garden and a beautiiful spa quite pleasant for relaxing. Very nicely decorated dining and breakfast room. brekfast was good although not exceptional.
All sounds perfect except that the room I had - in a "hut"- was very small, bathroom not ot the standard you might expect, funiture quite dull. S
Service was average and WiFi temperamental, ie not functioning.

We're so glad you found our setting and hotel to be beautiful. We're very fortunate to be located in an historic setting in the heart of the Kent Downs area of outstanding natural beauty on the coast of White Cliffs Country.
Our rooms are all quite different, ranging from four-poster bedded rooms up the ancient oak stairs in the 17th Century manor house to our wonderfully spacious suites in the barn that houses the spa to our simpler Classic rooms in the converted Kentish hay barns. There is also 'The Staddle Hut' which is very different from the rest of the rooms. It is a converted grain store sat atop 9 stone mushrooms in which there is a simply furnished double bedroom with a mezzanine bed platform (great for older kids and teenagers) it also has a small shower room ensuite.
The Staddle Hut has it's fans who return year after year, but it also isn't everyone's 'cup of tea' due to the nature of the building. There is also FREE WIFI available in all bedrooms and public areas with the exception of the Tipis and Staddle Hut as they are away from the hub of the hotel.
We recommend that when booking a room here that you take a look at our website (also our video channel youtube.com/walletts which has some video of the hotel) and choose a room that suits your needs.
Also we have a helpful team on reservations who will always answer any of your questions about room types, sizes and style and book just the right room for you. Note - if you book online we will allocate rooms by type - the Staddle Hut is now no longer available to book online, so no more surprises for the uninitiated...

“A lovely retreat near Dover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I recently stayed at Wallett's Court Hotel in the family room with my sister and our two sons aged 12 and 14. This lovely old country house set within beautiful surroundings provided the rest and relaxation I so desperately needed. The hotel was happy to accommodate our 3 small dogs as well, which was a real bonus. The room was spacious and comfortable, set in a barn conversion separate to the main building. Breakfast was delicious, our growing lads had the full english whilst my sister and I had eggs Benedict which was yummy, and there was fresh fruit salad and a selection of cerials to choose from both mornings. We had high tea one afternoon in the comfy lounge with its open fire, a real treat and definately reccomended. We also made use of the spa area, with its jacquzzi, steam room, sauna and pool which was lovely. Both my sister and I had treatments, an Indian Head Massage was blissful but I would particularly reccomend the Hydrotherapy massage with Ben which we both had and left us floating! Thank you to all the friendly staff for making this a really enjoyable and restful stay.
