I had booked this hotel on the internet because of it's convenient location to the port. On our approach to the hotel we were filled with trepidation. The windows/balconies had nets hanging over them and looked very untidy. It was explained later that this was to keep the pigeons and seagulls off of the balconies which I can understand. The lower floor rooms, from the outside had untidy and rusty frames. On check in I asked to see the room before I committed to staying. I was very pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the third floor, accessed by a lift that did not have any graffitti in it, as mentioned in a previous review. Our room was clean, the bedding was clean and we had all the facilities that we needed. The staff seemed pleasant and we also had a very nice meal in the evening. All in all, a very nice stay and we would not hesitate to stay again. Only £46. A bargain.

After reading the reviews after booking, I was really concerned. However it turned out to be a wonderful stay. We're managed to book in early. Receptionist was very helpful.

Room was warm, clean & tidy. Everything worked.

Check in & out was a pleasure...Would use the hotel again. Great price and location.

This hotel is the biggest ever disgrace I have been in and believe me I have stayed in poor hotels.

The outside area is tatty and the place looks like it needs to be pulled down. It is even worse inside. Stinking corridors, dirt everywhere even graffiti carved in to the inside of the lift. We spoke to the lady at the hotel and she explained that a local businessman runs the hotel and he was told by the council five years ago that the hotel would be closed down. He thefore blatantley said he wouldnt invest and is now letting the place go to rack and ruin. What a an absolute disgrace. (Beware the council have now given another five years to run this flea pit)

Just avoid this place and hopefully together we can drive out these thievs who are baltanly conning the hard working public!!! £90 for one night in this hotel what a joke even Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!!

We stayed in a family room for one night as a stop over before we caught a ferry. After booking I found all these terrible reviews but didn't change hotels as I couldn't find anything else in Dover itself. Ok from the outside it looks awful hence wy there are no outside photos but inside it was ok. Clean, didn't smell, the lift worked fine if a little noisy and our room was perfectly adequate for the price we paid. If your expecting the Marriot go pay their prices! The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help, eg serving a room service breakfast at 5 am that wasn't on the menu so our toddler could eat before the ferry. It is obviously quite an old hotel but do think that the price for the rooms reflects the fact this aint the ritz. All in all I would use it again for a ferry stopover.
