“Well kept and close to town centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

Stayed here with my boyfriend and parents for 3 nights. Rooms were lovely and came with robes, nice toiletries and bottled water that was replenished daily. Really comfortable 4 poster bed and the whole guest house was very clean and well kept. Just a 10 minute walk into the town centre. The owner was nice and helpful and breakfast was good each day. The only issue we had was after returning from a day out we found the doors of our rooms had been propped open for some reason. I've not stayed in a guest house before so maybe this is normal but having left expensive jewellery in the rooms we felt this was definatley a security issue. The alarm in my mum and dads room also went off at 3am on the first night but that was obviously the fault of whoever stayed there prior to us. All in all a good stay and would definatley stay again if in the area.

“Vicki - the perfect B&B hostess”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2011

As other reviewers have said, this B&B is well located within walking distance to the town centre and to the cathedral. This is important as it is very difficult to park anywhere in Canterbury and parts of the inner CBD are car free anyway. The proprieter Vicki has a lovely friendly personality and is a wonderful, obliging hostess - she even drew me a map of how to get to my next destination. She also dragged my heavy suitcase up 2 flights of stairs! My room at the front was spacious, very clean and well presented, with a very comfy bed. The breakfast was superb and in a lovely dining room. The street was a little noisy but I was so tired anyway from walking around this lovely town that I slept well. Thoroughly recommended.

“A beautiful B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

I stayed at Yorke Lodge with my husband for 3 nights from 10 March 2011. We had a lovely room at the front of the house with a four poster bed and flat screen TV. The hospitality tray was excellent with new biscuits provided daily and even hot chocolate provided. There was also bottled water provided which was great to take with us when out for the day. Vicky is a lovely hostess and made us extremely welcome. There was also a bowl of sweets in bedroom. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was also very nice. Cereals, fruit juice, yoghurts, fruit and a cooked breakfast with as much tea & coffee as you wanted. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk into the centre of Canterbury and the cathedral. We would certainly recommend this hotel. We parked our car in the car park and never touched it again until we were leaving.
Although our room was at the front of the hotel on the London Road there was hardly any traffic at night so we had undistrubed sleep which is unusual for me as I am a very light sleeper.

“Beautiful Victorian home minutes from rail station and city centre - a great base for exploring Canterbury.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

This lovely house is immaculate - a credit to Vicki and her trusty team! Guest rooms have high ceilings and are spacious and very elegant - all beautifully furnished and decorated in keeping with the age of the property but with a modern twist - so not cluttered or over fussy. Ours was a Ensuite Double/Treble but there was an Ensuite King room next door and it looked beautiful - as did the Single room. Breakfast is served in a spacious airy room which opens to a conservatory which opens onto the lovely garden - a large decked area with comfortable seating is provided for guest use which must be lovely in the warmer months. Service is given always with a smile - attention is friendly but not intrusive. The location is perfect for exploring Canterbury - within 5 minutes walk we could see the historic West Gate to the city ahead, within 10 minutes we had joined a guided walking tour and then set off to explore on our own. Canterbury has so many restaurants we were really spoiled for choice and again, only 10 minutes walk from the guest house. We did think of travelling by train (West Station) which is only 10 minutes walk from Yorke Lodge but decided to take the car in the end - adequate parking is provided at the guest house so it was no problem either way. If you want the convenience of not having to find, fight for (and pay for) parking in the city centre then a bit of traffic noise (and it really wasn't intrusive) seems an okay trade off to me. We finished our weekend with a boat trip - being punted through the beautiful waterways just minutes from where we were staying was a perfect end to a really enjoyable weekend at Yorke Lodge, Canterbury.
