“Lovely old hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I booked this hotel to treat my friend to a weekend away for her 50th birthday and was very pleasantly suprised. Our room was comfortable, clean, lovely and warm, plenty of hot water and big towels (always a plus!)
On the downside the TV was ancient - but we didn't go away to watch the TV so this is really only a minor point, and there was an annoying occasional drippiing sound (we suspect the bathroom above may be the culprit).
All-in-all a very enjoyable stay, perfectly located to see the sights of Canterbury and a very warm welcome by the hotel - would definitely book again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the building at the back of the hotel - no noise from the street but the building is a...

“Decent stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We came here for the weekend from London and wanted a place to stay that was central and offered breakfast at a reasonable price. We looked at several B&B's but those that had empty rooms were outside the city walls. Best part about this stay is its location: it is a 5 minute walk from the Canterbury West station and 5-7 minutes walk to the Cathedral. Breakfast buffet in the morning is plentiful.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that doesn't face the street. There wasn't much...

“Atmospheric hotel, perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

This very old hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Canterbury city, located just outside the west gate, also easy to find. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was pleasant, with good and plentiful food and the reading room/lounge/bar was reminiscent of grander times with comfortable chairs and a welcoming open fire to relax by. Another plus is the available onsite parking. The only downside was our bed was a double, not a queen size and thus a bit narrow for two.

“fantastic stay in this cosy and very central hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

stayed at this hotel for one night to attend my daughters graduation ceremony . The room was lovely and much larger than i expected with a well stocked welcome tray . Even though it was very cold the room felt warm on arrival and there was an extra heater if we needed it . Had a wonderful breakfast in the morning with every case catered for !! All in all a very enjoyable stay and would definetly go back !
