“GIANT RATS EVERYWHERE & VICOUS DOG, FLEAS & UNCLEAN CARPETS..AVOID!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Arrived at night we saw 8 diiferent rats just by walking from car to reception a very short walk of less than around 25 meters!! This was very terrifying for my wife and child they didnt want to get out of the car!! Should have been warned off by this but we were tired as it was gone 11 at night.
Walked into reception and my small child was immediatly snarled at by a VERY FIERCE uncontolled large Alsation dog with an unhelpful owner attached to the lead, my child was very upset by this..The receptionist guy, skinny i guess in his late 50s with glasses & very short hair did not apologize about the dog he just siad that it was a long term residents dog, while i was checking in my wife noticed the badly stained reception carpet (very grim) I mentioned the rats to the receptionist again he seem totally un-interested.There was nowhere to get anything to eat apart from a whsmiths shop next door but we did not want to venture out for fear of the plague of rats!!
The room was ok but looked very tired and outdated especially the carpets tub chair & bathroom..mould around the bath! it smelt as if the previous guests had smoked in the room although the hotel is all non-smoking and there were dog hairs and what i possibly thought was a flea on the white bed cover!!
Was woken at around 5.30 am by lorries and somebody wheeling a large container of something into the hotel and then stamping loudly as they left i guess to scare the rats away..
We could not wait to leave in the morning in the daylight the exterior of the hotel looks like a large tin shed with a mismash of colours purple & blue??
Overall very poor experiance and would never recommend this dump to anyone especially families, take it from us we have stayed in many budget hotels accross the uk and this is by far the worst!!!

“Great Hotel, Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Like everyone else says, when approaching from the north you have to go about 8 miles past the hotel to turn around and backtrack. About $50 for nice room and free internet. Not breakfast but the Burger King next door gets the job done.

“Be warned”

We stayed at this inn while attending a wedding. We left our car at the wedding venue with the intention of picking it up the next day. The journey back to our accommodation cost us £45 as you have to travel to junction 6 to access the motorway. A bit much as the wedding venue was only 3.2 miles away as the crow flies. Next morning we then had to pay £30 as the local cab companies have to travel to junction 6 to access us. I would recommend this inn if you are breaking a journey but not if you are using it in the way we did. As to the accommodation itself, it was clean, functional, and the staff were very friendly and approachable.

“Does exactly what is says on the tin!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Good, basic, accommodation. Comfortable bed, good TV and coffee facilities in the room. No problems and a good nights sleep. The only issue is the access - you can only get to it from the southbound carriage way of the M3!
