We had two really nice large comfortable rooms at this extremely well located hotel in historic Winchester. The staff in general were very friendly. Breakfast was great.

If we were going back to Winchester, we would be happy to stay again.

Stayed one night while on business.Was delighted to have lovely view of the cathedral from my room.Room was very comfortable.Slight mix up at arrival because my booking by the company I was working for had not gone through, but this was quickly resolved.I didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as it seemed slightly pricey but several popular restaurants were in easy walking distance. Breakfast was lovely. I would certainly return to this hotel for a leisure break .

Peeling wall paper, the previous occupants' orange peel in the waste basket and a freezing room made our recent stay in this hotel less than ideal. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and the staff helpful. It would have been helpful had the web site made clear that there was little prospect of parking anywhere near the hotel. We've stayed in lots of Mercure hotels in the UK and elsewhere. This wasn't the best by any means.

Room allocated to us was a little tired and cold! An electric fan heater was supplied which did work but for a hotel of this standard I would expect integral heating/aircon. Granted we did stay on one of the coldest weekends of the winter but every part of the hotel was cold.
