“until we meet again!”

It was the 2nd time we've stayed with Alan and Chrissie. It was even better than last year! It's near the town center, it's a beautiful B&B in its rich ambiance and Alan and Chrissie are just the best! This year we've stayed in a different room than the year before, but that didn't make any difference: both rooms are lovely. Thanks again Alan and Chrissie, we really enjoyed our stay, until we meet again! Leopold and Elrieke

“Fantastic Place to Stay in Winchester”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

This is the second time I've stayed at Clifton Terrace - the first time with my boyfriend last year and this time with a group of friends as we were having a reunion. Both times I stayed in the family room which, as other people have mentioned, is perfect as it has it's own front door and you really feel like you are staying in your own home. The bathroom is gorgeous with a big victorian bath (and candles) and the room was lovely and clean with comfortable double and single beds. Alan and Chrissie are great hosts which as well as making lovely breakfasts (fresh raspberries, jam, croissants and full English!), they also couldn't do enough for us on our visits - this time an extra friend asked if she could stay last minute and Alan was more than willing to set up another bed for us in our room. Once again we had a fantastic stay and couldn't reccommend this place enough. Our friends who were staying at one of the top hotels in the City Centre were jealous and wished they had stayed here too!

Room Tip: Ask for the family room - it's really spacious and great if you're with friends

“Really enjoyed out stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

Just back from a weekend at the Clifton Terrace and we had a really lovely stay.
We were in the basement "family" room which was really cosy and big size. We had our own front door which made it feel like our own apartment.
Great location to the high street, probably 5 mins at the most.
The bathroom was private and just along the corridor (up a few stairs) and although not exactly ensuite was perfectly fine for us and quite charming. Slight risk you might see the owners up the next flight of stairs so just make sure you are fully clothed :-)

Breakfast was served in the lounge of the house which was very very nice.

We really enjoyed our stay but I would point out that if you have never stayed in a guest house before then you might find it very different. If you have and enjoyed the experience then you'll have a great stay.

“Our favorite B&B in Winchester, great views & good location, we feel like one of the family”

We've been coming here for years now, and its still as good as ever. Chrissie and Allan are joyful & helpful hosts and each a real character. There are a lot of stairs in this place, as it's spread over about 5 floors, it's like a personal exercise programme, but that's part of the fun of it, (saves going to the Gym). The views are stunning from the upper floors, over past the town hall clock tower, and on to the wooded Hampshire skyline. The rooms are tastefully decorated, with interesting objects and guitars are everywhere. Breakfast is a treat. Allan and I share a strange musical history of Theremins, John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett – it’s so good to find a kindred spirit to discus them with.

“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and thought the owners were so nice (Chrissie even gave us hugs when we left!). We were in the front room (a converted sitting room I think) that was a nice size. The bathroom is up a short set of stairs with a great shower (they provide one robe). It's a bit odd that you are staying in someone's home (they live upstairs), where you eat breakfast is in their sitting room/dining room filled with all their things, but it didn't bother me. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Great Hall and 10 to the High Street. It's not accessible as the house entrance is up several stairs. We would definitely stay here again!
