I stayed at the Argyle whilst my uncle was in ICU in Southamton Hospital, absolutely nothing was too much trouble. I stayed on 2 weekends and I was booked in with no trouble and always met with a sympathetic ear. The bedrooms fantastic and clean, breakfast divine. Unfortunately my uncle passed away but I will never forget the kindness shown to us Yorkshire people by the southerners, the lady had class ! Cheers

Room Tip: All of them :)

“Communication a problem”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Overall our 2 night stay i October , 2011 was fine . Location was excellent for exploring Southampton and surrounding countryside. A short walk to either bus , train or free tram to city center and ferries. Room was comfortable , and very clean . We had room right near front door which was convenient as no stairs to carry up luggage ( no elevator ) but constant noise from guests coming and going . Breakfast was excellent .
No telephone in room or use of one at Lodge for guests . We had urgent family emergency call
to Lodge that wasn't relayed to us . Caller was told " phone is for business only and not for personal calls " . As result , we had to wait for 8 hrs to make call - due to time zone difference and delay in getting message of a call AND had to walk 6 blocks to use pay phone . Not very guest friendly attitude.
Overall , a good choice of lodging with this one unprofessional attitude.

“Very good b&b would highly recommend”

I stayed here with my partner whilst house hunting in Southampton. We were very impressed with the location which was about 10mins walk from the train station and 10/15 from the centre of town. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast as well as other options was very nice and the owner was pleasant and very helpful. Overall excellent value for money and I would highly recommend to anyone

“pleasant stay in great location”

Standard economical british city B&B. Excellent location, short walk into old town. Very clean and nicely decorated. Ample breakfast and friendly service. Our double room was very tiny with little space for luggage. It was quiet and we had two good night's sleep. A lounge area would have been nice.

Room Tip: Ask about en-suite room to get a private bath, and select two twin beds for more space.

“Renovated to high standard”

Picked this on the web for a one night stay. The landlady was friendly, the interior very nice and clean, not long since a total makeover. Had a double room with lovely beds, cosy carpet and tasteful decorations. Shared Bathroom normally isn't my best but this actually is OK. Renovated as the rest of the place. Full breakfast freshly cooked to order sets you off nicely for the day.

Room Tip: Room no. 4 on first floor, close to amenities was a hit. Ask for it when you book.
