“Very beautiful, very clean, excelent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2010

The place is really beatiful, we stayed there 5 days, we had a huge room!! Everything was very clean, very ordered, everything worked... the bed was very comfortable, the place smells good everytime.
The breakfast was great! We had so many options! Many things were cooked for us exactly how we liked! The orange juice was allways fresh!!
And the owners... were great! very helpful with everything we needed, so kind with us!

“Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2010

I stayed for 12 nights in a double room for single use - very comfortable if a little compact. Had all the facilities I needed and more than I expected - TV, desk, Tea and Coffee making. I was made welcome at once and the hospitality throughout was fantastic. Excellent cooked breakfast and without even asking for it a bacon sandwich was left for me when I returned home from working nights.

The lack of en-suite was not an issue - the shared bath and shower rooms are convenient, plentiful and, like the rest of the house, spotless.

The House is very popular for contractors who tend to use all the available parking space during the week with their white vans. Parking isn't a problem though. The House does tend to have a predominantly male atmosphere however. Many of the guests are returning customers which says a lot.

I would confidently recommend Landguard House to anybody; the price is fantastic and compared to the faceless budget Hotels the welcome and facilities are many times better.

Although close to the city it is beyond walking distance but still very convenient for any purpose for a stay in Southampton.

“Very Welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2010

Have stayed at Languard House twice now, the first time was with family (and was able to have breakfast which was gorgeous).
The second time I stayed was for business purposes, unfortunately had to leave early so was unable to have breakfast.
The whole place is lovely and clean.
Unfortunately, the last time I stayed initially I could not find a car park space, however, the proprietor did not seem to mind me phoning to give assistance.
Lovely friendly atmosphere and internet access was easily obtained.
Am due to stay again in May and looking forward to my stay.

“5 Star Service all around!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2009

The Landguard House, B&B is absolutely wonderful.
In Sept, 09, I made a quick trip from Canada to Southampton with my elderly mother and two young children aged 9mths and 5yrs for a family wedding. We were welcomed by Yvonne with the warmest smile and cheerful welcome after almost 14 hrs of travel. This was the first time I had booked anything on the internet, so I was very unsure of what we would find at the end of our trip. Our first impression was our lasting impression!
From beginning to end, our 7 day stay was perfect. Yvonne and Martin were so happy to help us in any way. At my request, by email they assured me that they would have a play pen for the baby to sleep in, a kettle to boil water for bottles and even a dryer for my hair. The idea of sharing bathrooms made me feel a little uneasy as we had never stayed in a B&B before, but it all worked out perfectly. The entire house, all three floors of rooms are immaculate! The 4 bathrooms were spotless, there was never a line-up. The cleaning staff come in every day so there is barely a trace of any other guests staying there with you. In the morning they like you to be out by around 10am, but were very understanding and accommodating to us because of the jet lag and having young children. Yvonne and Martin have a lovely dining room with at least 6 tables so you never had to wait for your breakfast. A full "English" gave you the start you needed, and on days we wanted something different we has toast, fruit, yogurt etc. We had a table just for us each morning with feeding chair for baby always ready.
As you can see, we don't have a negative thing to say about this place. It was because of the hospitality that Yvonne and Martin showed us, our whirlwind trip was such a success.
I guess for anyone reading this, you might think that this place is too good to be true.
Well, it is great value for money and the service was superb, but if I had to think of anything that could be improved upon, the only things I could say that are really just me being picky and did not affect my stay at all would be,
#1 I love fresh fried tomatoes, not canned, sorry
#2 If you are renting a car or have traveled by one, you need to be back early to get a parking spot in the front as there is only room for about 5 small cars, otherwise you have to park along one of the side streets. People in England are very used to this as many of them own a home and can't even park in front of their house, but as a guest it bugs you a bit. Still, nothing major. It is only 2 mins from the central train station which is really easy. We flew in to Gatwick and took a 2hr train ride to Southampton. It was all very do-able.

That's it, you won't regret staying at the Landguard House. Service, value and hospitality is top notch and I would gladly recommend it to anyone I know. On our last day, my 5 year old decided that we should do something nice for Yvonne because she was so nice to us and always got her what she wanted for breakfast and made her smile when she was jet lagged and woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She gave her a big bunch of flowers!

We will definitely visit again.
Have a great stay, eveyone.
Thanks, Adele

Thank you Yvonne and Martin

“Short stay at Landguard House”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2009

Very welcoming B&B. We stayed in the triple room which was clean, modern and warm.
All facilities were in room also plates and cutlery were available if you wanted to eat a takeaway in the room.
Good freshly cooked breakfast. Breakfast times are geared to contractors who stay there rather than people who are on holiday and want breakfast later than 8.00 am.
After 2 days we left our wet towels on bathroom floor to be changed, disappointingly they were just picked up and refolded rather than replaced.
