“A wonderful stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

I stayed at the Chilworth Manor on business for five days in January. I booked the hotel through the Best Western website which offered the best rate. I'm an IT contractor and settle hotel bills out of my daily rate; value is very important.

First impressions were excellent, the hotel is situated in a leafy suburb of Southampton and is surrounded by beautiful mature gardens.

My room (311) was quiet, comfortable and well equipped. I enjoyed a good night's sleep every night. The only slight negative was the rather tired decor in the bathroom.

I found the staff to be attentive, friendly and polite.

The quality of food served at the hotel is excellent. I'm a vegetarian and found the continental breakfast and bar meals to be healthy, tasty and served to a high standard.

Overall, highly recommended.

Great to receive such positive feedback on our menu's from yourself thank you.

18 months ago we carried out an in-depth review of our food offering and we are continually reviewing and developing this. One of the comments was better variety for vegetarians across all our dining offers, so your feedback means allot.

I'm pleased you had a good nights sleep, we have upgraded all of our beds over the past year to ensure all our guests get a good nights sleep.

Room 311 is yet to be decorated but we are pacing at one a week at the moment, so I'm sure it will be decorated soon.

Many thanks

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your very positive review. Receiving such positive feedback helps to inspire and motivate our teams to continue to deliver excellent service.

Don't feel you have to wait for the Summer to visit us again, Southampton is an excellent destination all year round and with the Sea City Museum opening in April there's even more reason to come back soon.

Yours sincerely

“Lovely Hotel in tranquil setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Lovely hotel with a nice grounds.....great place for a wedding...maybe not so much for a long term stay or for business as it's location is quite remote.

Our room was clean and well appointed and even though it was next to the elevator we barely heard it during the night.

Breakfast the next morning was prompt with a big variety, just the thing for bleary heads!!

Overall lovely place.

Many thanks for your kind words.

We are a unique Hotel within Southampton due to our location, age of the building and lovely grounds. An ideal place for both the fairytale wedding or romantic break.

Thank you for feedback

“NOT ENJOYABLE”

We stayed here recently for one night as we were going on a cruise and thought a stopover would be a good idea. Unfortunately, we were given a room in the annexe and I'm afraid I was not impressed. The only thing going for it was that it was clean - but the windows (sort of double-glazed) didn't fit properly so there was extremely cold air coming through and one of the beds was right by this particular window so my husband stuffed the gap with loo roll. The room was sadly in need of an upgrade and was certainly showing it's age.

The food was OK but I really objected to the young front of house calling guests "you guys"!! Other than that the staff seemed pretty cheerful although I asked for a fresh lightbulb for our room and I'm still waiting!

Just one of those hotels you either like or you don't - I don't and reading other reviews, I wonder if we were staying in the same hotel.

Room Tip: If you're given a room in the annexe - complain!!!!!! We couldn't be bothered (I know, I kn...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us.

We are a very popular property for Park and Cruise stays due to our stunning location, and the package we offer. I am sorry that we fell short of the very high service standards we have set ourselves; we will take your comments on board and look to improve ourselves.

Just to clarify for any future guests reading this review we do not have an annexe, we have a corridor between the Manor, which was completed in 1904, and the newer wing added in 1989.

Yours sincerely

“Lunch in the Manor Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

person found this review helpful

I visited the Best Western Chilworth Manor again yesterday, this is a property I have previously reviewed. As expected the service and food was to an excellent standard, I enjoyed the goats cheese and rosemary jelly starter and the roast beef main course. There was a great atmosphere yesterday too as many people were dining in the restaurant with friends and family celebrating the festive season. The hotel entrance and gallery bar had been dressed in festive trees and lights and there was a roaring log fire which made for a great ambience. There is always parking availabilty and always a very warm welcome, it was great to revisit.
