“A great place to stay awhile.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

We have had B&B at Landguard Lodge three times so far and wouldn't go anywhere else. Excellent value, extremely clean, huge breakfasts, lovely beds and rooms, most helpful hosts who looked after our luggage on the day of our departure so we could go into the city for the morning for a while. Nothing was too much trouble. A very reasonable charge for first class accommodation. Jean and John, Ruddy 10, Dronfield.

“Good clean basic b and b”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010 via mobile

V clean, fairly large room, v big good breakfast, ok staff, only 4 channels on tv, found bed v soft and bouncy, no lounge, about 10 mins walk n of station, about another 10 mins to town from there. Not a place to go for luxury but if want a clean b and b for night or two then fine

“Very good value for money”

I stayed here a couple of nights on business. I had prepaid online so the welcome was hassle free, friendly and I was shown to my room immediately as it was off the ground floor corridor.

My room contained 2 x single beds. Not ideal for me as I prefer a double bed but it was comfortable enough. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious enough and en suite. Towels were included and rather on the small side. Tea and coffee making facilities were on a par with most hotels at this price. There was a small desk and wifi internet was included in the price - nice touch. (Remember to ask for the password). The room also had a very small TV perched high on a wall-bracket with only the 4 basic channels.

Breakfast is served from 0700 - 0830 and was cooked to order with very generous portions. Vegetarians are happily catered for and a second round of toast was even offered. Cereal was available on help yourself basis.

My only complaint, which was due to the location of my room, was noise from other guests coming and going or standing outside my room making telephone calls. Also someone tried to get into my room and I got a feeble explanation from the person when I confronted them, so I ended up not feeling particularly secure. This is a risk when you stay in any hotel or guesthouse I suppose.....

The Landguard Lodge is a good place to stay during your stay in Southampton. The rooms are nice and very clean. Short walking distance to the centre, located in quiet road.
John, the owner, is very friendly and ready to help for everything. The breakfast is good;
the rooms are big and very confortable.
I can recommend to other people, who would like to spend a nice time in Southampton.
