in portsmouth with my sister for family business only stopped one night at the beaufort but found the staff very helpful could not do enough for you .room was clean and had everything we needed .breakfast was lovely orange juice. melon.weetabix or any other .and full english .or if you wanted boiled egg .was very happy and would stay again thank you

I was unimpressed with this hotel. No variety in breakfast (no healthy options available) with poor service only wanted to serve a full english breakfast. When something else was requested the staff were unhappy and unwilling. The waiter was surly. Also, Televisions didn't work fully. However, the rooms were clean but basic. The hotel was in a good location for travel and tourist facilities.

Booked a superior twin room, and although I didn't have massively high expectations , nothing prepared me for the dissapointment. After viewing their own website and pictures on laterooms.com the standard of the regular rooms looked fine, the superior room was "tiny" and extremely dated. Couldn't get the TV to work and the remote control was held together by sticky tape!! I sat on the bed and the mattress sank to about 2" deep beneath me, my sister sat on her bed and sank into the middle where she could feel the bed base beneath her, as for the pillows - I prefer my wafers to come wtih my ice cream!!!!! There was also a mattress blocking a fire exit.
I actually checked with reception that they had booked me into the correct room.
After conveying my dissatisfaction and the tone with which my sister and myself were spoken to (especially by the manager on the phone, as they had no duty manager) we requested a refund, after which a debate ensued for more than an hour - the receptionist lied to the manager about our time of checking in and they tried to imply that we had simply changed our mind about staying and kept referring us to their cancellation policy - of which they did not have a copy - they kept trying to download laterooms.com policy instead - as I had not booked with laterooms, I told them this was unacceptable - they were also unable to provide us with a copy of their complaints policy / procedure.
It was only after liaising with my credit card company about cancelling my transaction that the hotel miraculously decided they would refund my money. The hotel we subsequently stayed in advised us they had frequently had guests there that did not want to stay at the Beaufort Hotel and our cab driver later that evening said the hotel had been in the local papers!!!!!! Make of this what you will

to be honest, didn't stay for long. 2 nights.
yes, the room was basic,
but, it was clean. the food was good. the staff were very friendly!!
no complaints at all :)
