went there to see a concert last year. everything seemed fine until getting back from the concert and there was a young man who was a little to eager to welcome us when we stepped out of the taxi. however, we did not think anything of that. we left in the morning without breakfast as we did not fancy eating in this hotel after the state of the room.
When i got home (to wales) everything was fine until a month later when i had an email to say i had booked several hotels in the portsmouth area using my card. Then i remembered that the lady on reception of the hotel asked did i have the cash instead of using a card like you would usually do in a hotel check-in. this i found very strange. I then rung the hotel i supposedly booked several rooms for and i explained how i had stayed in the beaufort hotel the previous month. The girl on the phone seemed very concerned and she said that this has happened before, and that there is a drugs scam going on at this hotel and they do take money from rooms when going to breakfast. Luckily this did not happen to us. I then had to phone hampshire police and explain what was going on they took this very seriously and said that the hotel manager changed his name this is why its under new management when really it isnt. This is just to warn people on kepping all valubles on them at ALL times and dont pay by card on check in.
