The Beaufort doesn't pretend to be a luxury hotel and it was quite cheap so, with that in mind, I think it met my expectations. The décor was reasonably new, and cleanliness was not too bad. The location is very handy for the seafront and the night-life in nearby Albert Road and there was plenty of free parking on the hotel forecourt and on the street outside.
I booked a single room but was given a twin with one bed missing, so I had plenty of room. There were two towels and an en-suite bathroom with bath, sink and toilet. The window opened and the radiator was on but had a thermostatic control that I could adjust as I liked. The bed was perfectly comfortable.
Breakfast (full English) was fine and the staff were polite and friendly.
The only thing that did concern me was when I checked in the (Polish?) lady wanted me to pay for the room in spite of the fact that I had already paid for it in full through lastminute.com. When I didn't offer her my card she typed in some card details and gave me a receipt for the room cost less commission. On examination of the receipt I saw that she had charged it to somebody else's Amex card. I suspect this is incompetence rather than dishonesty, but I certainly wouldn't trust this establishment with my card details!
