“They will go the extra mile”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I recently stayed at the Westfield Hall hotel and they really did go the extra mile - in fact 5 miles to be more precise!
I left my house keys in the room and they drove 5 miles to drop them off as I did not have time to go back and pick them up and had to catch a train back to London.
The breakfast is good and the staff are very friendly. The single room was small, but adequate. It had all the facilities you needed. The only bad point was that the shower was not very powerful.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are more quieter.

“Clean, but small family room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Room was clean, but very small with a family of four. The folding bed was the best one to sleep in. Walking to the city centre is quite far. Breakfast was good.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Small room even though it was a 'superior'. Carpet on ensuite floor - not hygienic. Handbasin very small. Frayed worn bath mat and lump of dust hanging down below radiator. Very limited parking - had to move my car to allow someone out in the morning. Not impressed with staff attitude. Breakfast was fine. Would not stay again.

I am sorry you were unhappy with your stay at the Westfield Hall. Our car park offers generous parking. You informed the desk at 8.00am that you had blocked someone in, and that if we called your room, you would be happy to move. We called at 10.15am and you quite happily moved your car. I don't understand why you mention this? Regarding housekeeping, it is regrettable that you found dust on the underside of the radiator, also the frayed bathmat, which is hired, and unfortunately slipped our Housekeepers' notice. We are proud of our superior rooms which have been beautifully refurbished with King size beds and quality fabrics and furnishings in the last two years, and are sorry that this did not meet your expectations. It is always hard to receive negative feedback when we try to attain exacting standards here, but take our customers feedback positively and would like to thank you for comments.

“Tiny broom cupboard single room & argumentative owner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

I stayed at this hotel in July 2011. I had to book the single as they were fully booked and so was everywhere else. The single room B&b was £58.28 per night. The room had a single bed, desk, bed side table and ensuite shower. It is the smallest room I have ever stayed in. Although clean and tidy, it felt very claustrophobic. In the early morning, I put the do not disturb sign on the door and unfortunately did not turn the key fully. I was in the ensuite and the cleaner entered the room despite the sign and me having to shout do not come in a number of times. Later, I left the do not disturb notice on the door as I was only staying for 2 nights and I had left my laptop and some documentation on the desk as I had to dash out as my sister had been rushed into hospital. When I came back that evening, the room had been entered and tidied.
I complained to the owner about the morning episode who accused me of not putting the sign on the door the correct way. There was a complete denial that her staff may have invaded my privacy. Again I complained about the staff entering the room again to clean and ignoring the notice.
Overall, poor customer service, poor value for money, this tiny room should not be rented, owner arrogant beyond belief, breakfast okay, a grand name for a bog standard b&b, certainly not a hotel. I rarely stay in local hotels as the this is the standard you normally get, best to stick to the chain hotels that have a proper procedures for staff behaviour and minimum standards.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front are noisy.

We are sorry that you were unhappy with your stay at the Westfield Hall. You booked a single room which meets the stringent standards set by the AA in size and amenities and we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations. Regarding the cleaning of the room, our cleaners went into the room on the first occasion and left at your request. Reception saw you go out later that morning and assumed you had forgotten to take down the do not disturb sign and therefore gave instructions for the room to be cleaned. We are obviously mortified that you would think we have invaded your privacy and apologise wholeheartedly. You spoke with the owner on your departure who tried to explain this to you, but you were very distraught, and understandably so, in the circumstances. Our apologies again.

“Rubber under-sheets”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

We stayed here for one night on 29th September on our way back from France and it was a hot night. We soon discovered that the bed had a rubber under-sheet which we hate. What with that and a fairly heavy quilt we were hot and sweaty all night. We complained in the morning and were told that they had to use the rubber sheets because some people can be sick and some can have a lot to drink and then wet the bed etc.
I said that we would not be coming back again because of their use of these awful sheets. We don't wet the bed and if we were going to be sick would use the bathroom so don't see why we should suffer with these things on our bed!
The room was small but nice and clean and the breakfast was excellent.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the Westfield Hall. Unfortunately, there is a need for all Hotels to provide mattress protectors (not rubber sheets) for purposes of hygiene. This is also a requirement of the AA. I do not understand however, why you did not remove the mattress protector, if you were unable to sleep on it. We try to maintain high standards at the Westfield for the comfort and enjoyment of our many satisfied customers, we are sorry that you do not feel asble to return to us again.
