I stayed here for the first time recently as i could not get into my usual travel lodge, I got myself completely lost however found that the Duty Manager was really helpfull guideing me in, when i arrived the reception team made me feel very welcome pointing out the resturants I could use and gave me the time of day even though they were busy which you dont get in other big chains, the rooms are standard but comfortable overall a good venue food was very good value would stay again

“You get what you pay for!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Well this really is you get what you pay for - and I paid £35 for a bed for the night! Now in terms of money I have absolutely no complaint - but frankly had I spent a penny more I would have felt short changed.
The room was a family room and I guess for a night or 2 with children perfectly acceptable - but I feel Greene King the owners really do need to invest in this building. It smelt musty and smokey - which considering there has been a no smoking ban for a few years now refelcts the staleness of the furnishings etc. The Hotel Bar area had a private function and was partially laid up for this. Bar staff who made little effort to assist in choice of drinks and in the setting up of a tab did little to make me want to sit there and relax after a long drive.
Reception staff were perfunctory and a wifi code given did not work.
The bedroom itself was clean (ish) but the decor was faded, scuffed and in general need of a makeover.
Breakfast was cheap - cheap to cost and cheap in produce. The tables were still dirty from the night before with filthy sticky glass rings on the tables. Coffee was hot water and coffee sachets.
For a 1 night stay for a clean bed, central location and reasonable parking, I would probably stay again - but for those reasons only. Anymore than that and I would go elsewhere. Greene King you are a big company - should do better for your paying customers.

“Modern hotel with pleasant rooms and grounds and reasonable ' pub grub'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The exec.rooms are spacious and have a settee. The staff were very helpful in changing a pre paid booking due to a car breakdown. Easy access to IOW ferry and 15-20 mins from cross channel port.
Food is not spectacular rather typical chain pub menu at a reasonable price.

“Nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Stayed one night when catching an early morning ferry. Helpful and friendly staff Very big, comfortable room, mostly very clean but a few corners need a scrub. Paid extra for the optional breakfast, not the best and rather small.

This hotel needs a really deep clean everywhere especially the toilets near the main bar,
