The Clarence has everything you need in a hotel. Elegant rooms excellent service and good value for money.there are cheaper places to stay but the little touches you receive here make it really worth it. The staff re attentive and the rooms are fabulous

My Boyfriend and I visited the Clarence on 3rd Feb and it is by far best hotel I've stayed in for a long time.

SERVICE:
Was greeted by the lovely Amber when we arrived and was given complimentary drinks and offered a free room upgrade!
She was friendly and polite and could not have made us feel more welcome. Once she showed us to our room, she explained how everything worked and told us about the turn down service and breakfast next morning. Wonderful front of house staff!
Later that evening we met Louise while waiting for our taxi and she was just as welcoming and friendly as Amber and when our taxi didn't show she called us another and it was there within minutes!
Such lovely staff!

Room.
Amber showed us to the Luella Cherry Superior room and oh wow! Huge bed, spacious room, massive TV, robes and slippers. The TV had access to lots of recent movies as well as digital TV. Then she showed us the bathroom and it was amazing! Massive jet spa/ hot tub/ bath with an aqua vision TV so you could relax in the bubbles and watch a movie at the same time.
The room was beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. Lots of local restuarants were recommended to us too. The turn down service was a perfect little extra - gorgeous little chocolates in a box - which were tasty!
It was the best nights sleep Ive had in a long time!!

Food.
Breakfast was included and I was a bit apprehensive at first, but like everything else it was lovely! lots of fruit and pastry to choose from as well as a selection of cereals. We also opted to have a full english breakfast which was cooked to perfection! All the toast was home made, white brown and granary, and the jams and spreads were tasty too!

I would highly recommend this hotel!
I shall be back to stay in other rooms too!

Visited the Clarence on 30th January and without question is a lovely hotel to stay in.
Stayed with my girlfriend and was met upon arrival with a complimentary drink which was a nice touch.
Shown to our room which was the top priced room and all I can say is wow! Champagne, hot tub, king sized bed and 42" plasma tv with free movies.
I always expect good standards and I can say this hotel exceeded my expectations.
Good location walk along the sea front to gun wharf and sopranos restaurant is a great Italian round the corner.
Wish I'd stayed longer! Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful weekend. An inviting, complimentary drink most welcome! Informative staff but very discreet. Fantastic room, number 5, amazing, huge bed and lovely relaxing, hot tub, while watching a movie...! Staff recommended restaurants and were happy to book these for us. Bracing walk by the sea into Portsmouth. Full English breakfast was superb. Complimentary chocolates and "quotes" lovely touch. Would highly recommend hotel. Thanks
