“Pleasant stay at this charming little 5*”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I have just returned from a night's stay at this lovely little boutique hotel. First impressions were that the hotel is beautifully decorated to a high standard and staff all very approachable. One of the most important things I look out for is cleanliness and I can say that this hotel exceeded my expectations. I am looking forward to returning in the Summer as I have family living on the South Coast.

“not 5* hotel, overpriced for what's on offer”

I would be happy with Stattons if advertised as 3-4 star hotel and charged adequately. It's nice boutique hotel in quiet location, but nowhere near 5* and being called luxury hotel.
Room wasn't as big as photos had suggested and missed the wow factor. Sadly level of cleaning was disappointing - layers of dust on room's decorations, limescale on shower head (blocking water stream in few places), around shower's glass panels and in the basin.
Continental breakfast was also big disapointment, as I've expected at least some cheese slices and cold meat, not just cereals, jams and toasts. I was aware of extra charges for cooked breakfast and had no issues with it, but according to my previous experiences with continental, it wasn't served.
I woudn't stay there again, as felt cheated and overcharged, hotel didn't meet my expectation and partly ruined romantic stay, by not providing what we have hoped for.

“Quality hotel at a great price”

I stayed here with my two sons on the night of 29th January. We each had an "Executive Double" to ourselves for just £55 per room. A bargain for such individually-styled and comfortable accommodation with en suite shower rooms. My room (no.3) also had an in-room bathtub! Free wi-fi and 32" LCD TVs with Sky both added to a very agreeable stay.

The welcome, assistance and overall service received were also excellent. We could not fault them. The breakfast was also very pleasant, even without paying extra for a "full English" - but we did, of course!

The hotel is very conveniently located near to the seafront and within ten minutes' walk of the Palmerston Road shopping area where you will find branches of shops like Debenhams and John Lewis as well as plenty of local shops. In this area, you will also find "clone pubs" like the "Slug and Lettuce" while just one minutes' walk from the hotel is "The Florence Arms" - a pleasant and lively authentic pub.

Parking is conveniently off street, but the street is rather narrow. This can make negotiating the entrance to the car park one which requires a little extra concentration, especially if a local has parked his Audi Q7 in a legal, but awkward spot. Just take your time, exercise a little care and you will be fine!

I will definitely be returning to this excellent hotel.

Room Tip: I had room number 3, an "Executive Double". Perfectly comfortable room with a compact en s...

“Excellent Boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed here on a cold February night. The warm reception was in marked contrast to the weather! The bedroom was warm, clean, very comfortable and furnished stylishly. Free WiFi access. Small bathroom but very adequate. The continental breakfast, included in the price of £59, was good. An additional plus for this hotel is the free parking on the hotel site. We would definitely use this small, boutique hotel again.

“Lovely & Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed overnight whilst attending a birthday party in Portsmouth. I rang when we arrived in town, which was ahead of check in time and asked if we could park at the hotel whilst we went back into town - this was no trouble and by the time we arrived there was a room ready for us. Nice room and comfy bed with plenty of space.
We opted for the full English cooked breakfast which is extra but well worth it - we've eaten a lot of hotel breakfasts and this was definitley one of the best. Great service again from the lady who was managing the breakfast room.

Room Tip: All rooms are individual so if you do have particular prefence I would ring the hotel, room 3 is on...
