We went to the vine inn as a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 children. We went to the bar to order food and drinks, they had no lager or bitter on tap. Ok so it was a bank holiday but they knew that as well as anyone! The food wasn't that good, I had to send mine back! We ordered at the same time but one came a good 5 minutes before the others so was cold! They brought desert spoons for the childrens meals and we had to go hunting for cutlery. We won't be frequenting this establishment again!!

We booked a table for 30 for a Christmas meal - the booking was taken and deposits paid with no mention of the pub not being able to accomodate a party this large. When we arrived everyone was sat on seperate tables - some of 6 but mostly tables of 4 - spread across a large area of the pub, so the whole group was split into bits here and there. When we complained, we were rudely asked 'what did you expect, for all of you to be on the same table?' Since we'd booked a TABLE FOR 30 we didn't think this was particularly unreasonable!
We were all told to sit down but the food still took another 30 minutes to come out.. it was the worst meal I've ever had at a pub or restaurant - the meat was cheap and tough and the vegetables overcooked. The overall service from bar and restaurant staff was appalling - I'd never go here again and would advise others to steer clear.
If you're looking for a nice pub in the area, try the Compass Inn in Windsor - we went there for our family Christmas meal and paid the same price as the Vine - the food was amazing and fresh and service was perfect.

Having had many meals in the vine we decided to go in for a late lunch having ordered we sat back and waited and waited after an hour according to till receipt on complaining we were told their was an hours wait for food pity this wasnt explained at time of ordering still we had to wait a further 15 mins before the food arrived the food was very nice but it is obvious that their is something wrong with the way the place is beinging run.

As a regular visitor to the vine I find that after the refurbishment things have gone down hill,not enough staff,had to wait at the door for to long time. now you have to queue up to order your meal and drink at the bar ,when you have eaten back again to queue up at the bar for quite a while to pay the bill ,do not like this new system and the lack of staff , we are pensioners and like most do not like the new system will not go there again while this system is in force
