“Top quality hotel getaway in the New Forest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed here with my partner and friends for an overnight getaway from London. The hotel itself is in a great location in the new forest, very accessible from the motorway but still nessled in the countryside. We stayed in the forest room next to the clubhouse and our friend stayed in the main hotel. Both sets of rooms were nicely laid out and of a good standard. Dinner in the restaurant was well put together, freshly made rolls, delicious starters, good service, tasty main courses (although one of the fish dishes was overcooked). Lovely breakfast in the morning to round off a great stay. Would recommend and definitely go back.

Room Tip: Try to get the Forest Room next to the clubhouse.

“Wonderful short break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Sadly my wife and I have had some poor experiences in hotels in recent years, The Bell Inn was a wonderful exception! The food, the service, the room were all excellent. The staff went the extra mile to offer a service we could not fault.Food portions in the restaurant were small (as is the modern way) but oh my was the food good and we finished the meal very satisfied. On our second night we ate in the bar. Choice was a bit limited but big portions and again beautifully cooked and presented. The bar staff and waiters made us feel very welcome.Lovely big comfy bed and lots of little touches in the room meant we really felt at home.We had a 'traditional room'.
We are looking forward to a return visit!

“Weekend Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Having visited the New forest in the past, we knew the area pretty well. the bell inn is very comfortable and in easy reach off the A31. It is also not far to visit Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Lymington villages.
Although helpful staff when we arrived they lacked a warm welcome and small talk after a long drive.
The deal was for one night which included dinner and breakfast plus cream tea for two with scones. The room was warm, inviting and nicely decorated. The food was excellent and service was good. When we went it was till during the festive season at xmas time which meant it had a nice xmas feel and with nice touches in the bar and restaurant

Room Tip: Upstairs overlooking the adjacent golf course . However , our room was a good size with good facilit...

“Fantastic place for a short stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We were recommended The Pig by a friend and it absolutely didn’t disappoint. The best description I can give is something they offer: the hiring out of Hunter wellies! Hunter are obviously very prestigious and expensive with a real bent towards the ‘rural’. That’s exactly what The Pig offers. Not having any expectations, the bumpy drive way doesn’t give much away. When you see the multiple nice cars parked outside though you quickly realise this is a place that has something special about it. We got a drink in the beautifully appointed bar on some comfy sofas and nice dark wood bar. The restaurant is basically in the conservatory and has a real quirky feel. All of the tables and chairs are different and potted plants are lined along the wall! Could be a little ‘grandma’s house’ but they’ve achieved a high-quality finish with a rustic feel. Food was good. Possibly not quite worth the £16 for the pork loin but it was superb and ultimately you pay for the fantastic interior too. My advice; forget the money, it’s not too bad anyway and just enjoy the ambience.
