“Basic, clean accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2009

Stayed for 1 night with husband as attended a wedding nearby.
Friendly welcome and arranged to check in early to get changed for wedding. Room was basic but clean. Booked an ensuite room which had a tv, trouser press, tea/coffee facilities, dressing table, wardrobe and comfy bed. Decor could do with updating. Were marks on the wall and curtains frayed.
Cooked breakfast was included in price and was nice.

“Fawlty Towers meets Leage of Gentlemen”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2008

In these days of economic uncertainty, I can almost forgive the truly horrendous decor, the all-pervading smell of chip fat, blankets the texture of loft insulation and dribbly shower, but my suggestion to the man who served us breakfast as to how you might conceivably remain in business, is to close the door of the toilet when you urinate (loudly) 6 feet away from where people are trying to enjoy their breakfast. Oh, and learn to smile.

Overpriced, neglected and a sad introduction to the Cotswolds – I honestly didn't think places like this still existed. Having read previous comments on this hotel, I can only assume that this is now under new ownership.

“Hmmm”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2006

Hotel is basic, but the rooms are fairly comfortable. However, the hotel is right next to the road, so don't expect a great night's sleep, as the windows are only single glazed. Breakfast is very nice and the couple who run the hotel are very pleasant indeed, but i wouldn't recommend eating dinner here.

“Friendly welcome, but basic accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2006

This is a small, basic hotel run - as far as we can tell - by one person. He was very friendly and helpful, providing a warm greeting and giving us useful directions to where we had dinner in Stroud that evening. The location is a little way out of the town centre - probably at least 10 minutes walk to the main shops.

The rooms were small and most of the ones we had did not have any en suite facilities - we had to use the communal bathrooms on each floor. The bed were comfortable.

“Cozy and charming hotel run by a friendly couple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2005

We loved this hotel!! The location is perfect for the Cotswolds; easy access to the main towns and easy to find. There is a fair amount of parking at the hotel.

The rooms are nice and cozy. Comfortable beds and functional toilets. There is a lively restaurant and bar which I have to admit we did not use as we were out all day. The reception is well lit and airy and worth spending time in.

The main attraction is the wonderful couple who run the place; Nigel and Maura Messenger I think. Really friendly and chatty, they gave us useful advice on the places around and what to see. They were fun to talk to and fix an appetising breakfast.

If you like a small family run place, this is the place to go to.
