“Good location, nice kitchen and dining area.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I quite liked this YHA because of it's location, nice tea room/dining room and the kitchen. The rooms are really old though. I ended up having a dorm room to myself for both nights so it was great, but it was on the very top floor and I imagine could get quite hot. The bathroom was fine, but only a single shower for around 8 beds. There is a living area, a dining room and a back garden with picnic tables and some seating out front.

Room Tip: Girls dorm is on the very top, so be prepared to use the stairs and for it to be hot during a partic...

“All rooms are not ensuite”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

A nice hostel in a good location. Friendly and helpfull staff. However the YHA want to mis-lead you by saying all 48 beds have private bathrooms. They do not. As a family this is why we booked. Our room, No.8 was on the top floor with only a sink. Toilet and shower are on the lower floor and shared with room 7 and any one else who choses to use it. The manager did offer to move us. The room was clean and well presented. However the light over the sink was broken as was the shelf next to it. The fire escape door for our room was on to the roof. It could not be locked and provided easy access for our children onto the roof. The kitchen was a good size but needed a good clean. There was more dirt in the cutlery tray than spoons which were in very short supply. We enjoyed our stay and all my complaints are minor ones. With a little more effort this could become a really pleasent place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 8 does not have a private bathroom

“Great community feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

Easy to get to by public bus, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable common rooms, very friendly staff. Plus, you get to sleep in a historic building right in the center of the town. Stow is a great base from which to explore the Cotswolds, even if you don't have a car. There are numerous walking trails originating at the town or you can easily catch the bus to several other towns in the northern part of the Cotswolds.

“highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

as this is the only hostel within cotswold region, i have no other choice, but it turns out to be extremely pleasant! perfect location (opposite the main bus stop) cheerful staffs, real nice self catering kitchen, cute backyard garden, and clean bed-sheet-duvet-pillow, and bathroom. there's almost bath/toilet at every corner if the one in the room is occupied. plus i shared room with some really nice girls and it was a super pleasant stay.

Room Tip: if you had big huge luggage, please ask for room 7-8 as they are on the ground floor. mine was room...

“Awesome beer garden and family meal deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

We didn't stay here as we were staying at a friend's place in Stow, but this place is so fantastic for people with young children to have a brilliant value lunch. Kids can run around in the grassy beer garden with play area for children of all ages, while mum and dad can have great value wine! It's not haute cuisine but the food is really good and tasty - clean plates from all 4 kids and mum and dad too. I have eaten in a few places in Stow when I was on a girls weekend with my mum and sisters, all of which were fabulous but none of them were that family/kid friendly and, like most places in the area, they were quite pricey. On this trip with my husband and kids, I went here several times - a tenner for a family meal deal and the bottles of wine were all less than a tenner. Dawn, the manageress is a lovely girl and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming - all very young and enthusiastic. We were made to feel like we could treat the place like our own back garden. Gorgeous weather helped of course but I think this place would be a good value place to eat or stay any time of year.
