3 of us had a very comfortable stay in the cosy and tastefully furnished Clemetis cottage, which is a 17th century house, complete with exposed wooden beams. It is very well maintained, complemented by lots of cupboards, bookselves and even a collection of books and magazines.

The ensuite bathroom is enormous, as big as a bedroom in some other hotels/b&b. Other than the usual shower, WC, washbasin, it also containes a bidet and long bath.

It is conveniently located a short walking distance from the train station and at the end of the shopping street.

Marilyn, the host, is very friendly.

Two thin pieces of bacon (brittle when cooked), one fried egg,a spoonful of mushrooms and half a tomato to me does not constitute a FULL English breakfast. Where was the sausage, fried bread, black pudding?
Juice, toast and cereals provided, but butter in foil packs and minute packets of sugar had to be opened for cereals and tea/coffee. Where were the butter curls and sugar basins?
Patio doors in room filthy, inside and out.
Bit bin in bathroom overflowing from previous occupant also talcum powder on bathroom floor not vacuumed.
Door was sticking so badly I had to wait for a workman to use his strength to open it for me.
Although mainly catering for tourists, the lady had no information or leaflets about times of buses for Cheltenham or nearby villages, nor did she offer to find out.

We stayed here on the first and last day of a circular walking tour in the Cotswolds in May. Townend is at the end of the town's main street, High Street, near the train station direct from London.
We stayed in Corner Cottage, a cosy room in the front of an annex building across a quaint courtyard from the main house. An old-fashioned latch key was waiting in the lock for us! The room was small but comfortable, with full amenities. The full English breakfast was fresh and delicious, the tea wonderful.
Marilyn and her family made us feel very welcome and sent us on our way with loads of local news and travel tips. A great home away from home!
