“Beautiful hotel”

We stayed at this hotel 23-27 January and it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are very spacious with a huge king sized bed (maybe a queen!). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We didn't eat in the restaurant but we did notice that the menu was reasonably priced, with a couple of special offers as well. The only down point was the internet connection. If you managed to get connected (via scratchcard vouchers supplied at reception), you will find that the wi-fi is painfully slow. Other than that, we were happy with our stay.

Thankyou for taking the time to put your comments on the site. I am glad you had a pleasant stay at the hotel. With regards to the internet, BT openzone have been having a few issues nationwide over the past few weeks which has disrupted service to their clients who we are one. I am sorry for this inconvenience but hopefully they have sorted this problem for the future.

“Comfort & tranquility in the heart of England”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This hotel is in Cirencester, the Roman administrative capital of England. Dating back to Jacobean times this building served as a military hospital for USA troops wounded in World War 2.

My wife and I stayed in the large corner Room 8 on the first floor overlooking the car park one way and the walled garden the other way. There was a four poster bed in the room but it lacked curtains on three sides so it was really just for show. I called it a faux poster bed. It was very comfortable. The room is so big that it felt like a suite. The bathroom was spoiled by a poor mixer tap for the shower bath that was not thermostatically controlled. The bathroom window ran with condensation because it was single glazed, while the room had a double glazed window. At night the hotel is absolutely quiet. All we ever heard was an owl. There are no elevators (or lifts as they are known here). There are several ground floor rooms.
There are comfortable lounge areas and the dining room looks out onto the walled garden. Our visit was in January so it looked a bit barren. The kitchen provides excellent breakfasts while the evening dinner menu is OK but I can’t imagine non residents making a special effort to use it for dining out.
The car park has about twice as many parking places than the number of rooms, which is excellent.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The staff are friendly and the room was cosy. We enjoyed the peace and tranquillity.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the walled garden are best. Room 8 is probably the best room of all.

Thankyou for reviewing the hotel. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and found the staff to be friendly and the hotel to be peaceful. Room 8 is a very nice room and the gardens do look much better in late summer, when everything is in bloom, so perhaps we may see you again then.

“Surprisingly very good”

Stayed at this hotel on the weekend of 13th to 15th January. We did book an executive room and where not disappointed, it was very warm, clean and comfortable and friendly. We had the set menu three course dinner on the Friday night and for £19.99 including a bottle of wine, it was excellent value. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very nice. Cirencester is a nice place to visit with a variety of restauarants and pubs.

“Party Weekend Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

In January 2012 (for the second year running) we booked most of the rooms in the Stratton House Hotel for a classic car club late Christmas party (30 couples & 2 dogs) and were made extremely welcome on arrival. Most of us arrived on Friday afternoon and left Sunday morning, with a 3 course dinner and disco on Saturday evening. Linda Hill in the Conference & Banqueting Dept was friendly, helpful and efficient in getting the excellent weekend package organised and was there to greet us. All of the staff were friendly and hard-working. The hotel was in a good location for us to go off out exploring the region during the day (eg villages, towns, museums, country walks). The lounge is very comfortable to relax in and there was a lovely log fire warming the Jacobean bar.
We will definitely consider returning to the Stratton House Hotel.

Room Tip: Premier rooms are larger and the ones on the ground floor are preferable for the less agile as there...

“Amazing Staff, Beautiful Hotel - Very Dog Friendly :-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Stratton House Hotel on 13th and 14th January 2012 accompanied by our Rottweiler X Millie.

The Hotel was beautiful, clean and well looked after. We were welcomed warmly upon arrival even though we were there 2 hours before the earliest check in time. Our dog was also welcomed :-) In the room the hotel provided a couple of tins of dog food / bowls / feeding mat - Small touches but made us feel particularly welcome.

The room was of decent size, clean and fresh. Flat screen TV and tea / coffee / biscuits in room. The bathroom was slightly dated but clean and more than enjoyable - Had a couple of lovely bubble baths ;-)

Breakfast was lovely - we were able to leave Millie in the room and dine together relaxed :-) Lovely filling full english from friendly staff as well as a continental table.

Had a couple of drinks in the bar which was cosy and not to badly priced. We didnt dine in at the hotel but if the evening meals are as good as breakfast you cant go wrong.

A very enjoyable stay and will definitely recommend to friends - Especially as our trip cost £75 for 2 nights for 2 ppl including breakfast through buyagift,

Lastly I cannot emphasize enough how welcoming, friendly and helpful the staff were :-) No matter how late or random our request it wasnt a problem ;-)
