We booked this hotel for a family get together - 3 couples. Location is literally 10 mins from Junc 11 on the M5, but previous reviewer pointed out that the entrance can be a bit tricky to find as it is just one signpost off a fairly busy road - I missed it and had to turn around.
Our room was really lovely, a four poster in the main house overlooking the front (Room 10 - The Willow Room I think). Large room, with four poster and very beautiful heavy curtains, so at night it was really dark. Bed was very comfortable. Large bathroom with separate shower and bath.
Breakfast was very good, we also had two dinners, we mostly stuck to the Table d'hote (£29.95 for 3 courses) - the was a good choice and couldn't fault the food - one member of the party had the full menu one night. Wine choice was fairly good.
We also used the Spa on both weekend days, it was very lovely with different showers, nice pool, good sized sauna and steam room and a cooler sanatarium - there was also a hot (very hot!) tub outside. If anything the spa was a little overheated. My partner and I had treatments which were good, if a little pricey. and one comment I left was that they didn't leave enough time between treatments for the girls, so I didn't get my full time for my facial, and the massage was about 5 mins short. The Spa on Sunday was virtually empty.
Check out was a bit of a muddle with the bill split unequally between the 3 rooms, but we sorted it out eventually. We had booked a special 'January Sale' deal with was for dinner bed and breakfast for £184 per night, they wanted to charge us for dinner the second night which was incorrect, and we had the email confirmation to confirm the agreed rate - so take this with you in case there is a muddle. All was sorted out good with good humour. There was also a bottle of champagne left of the bill which was discovered later after we had checked out, so yes, the admin side of things does need a bit of sorting out.
The staff all seemed quite young and there didn't really seem to be anyone in charge - but we did all have a lovely time and would definitely go back and recommend it as a relaxing place to stay. You can walk directly onto the Cotswold way if you go out the back of the hotel and up the lane - and it would be really good if the staff were briefed a bit more on the local walks - as it actually says they do in the room guide.
Room Tip: Stay in the main house if you can
