“Very comfortable hotel.”

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for New Years Eve. The event we were going to that evening was walking distance so very conveniently located.
The welcome from the couple looking after the hotel (while the owners were on holiday) was very warm. They certainly made our stay a very pleasant one and will certainly be considering staying there again.
The room was furnished lovely with all the modern facilities you would expect (the shower in particular was very good). One very miner comment would be the size of the room – particularly as a girl who likes to spread her clothes everywhere was forced me to be tidy (probably not a bad thing!).
Breakfast in the morning was lovely with everything on offer from cereals, full cooked breakfasts to smoked salmon. The jam was exceptional and plenty of ketchup ;-)
This hotel offered more than you would expect and for a very reasonable price. We would highly recommend it.

“very pleasant stay”

Stayed here 9th Oct. on a 'catch-up' weekend with an old friend. Friendly welcome; the owners speeded up preparing my room as I was early, and they greeted my friend by name when she arrived having realised who she was - a small point, I know, but little things matter. Pleasant room; a small single, perfectly adequate for my requirements, ie. somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep, but one in which I would be not spending much time. It was clean and cheerfully decorated. If I had to find fault it was a little noisy from passing traffic, but to be fair, it was by the road and I did have the window ajar, so partly my fault. (Also, the owners cannot be expected to stop the traffic!!) Our evening meal was fine - nothing special, pub grub, but again, perfectly acceptable. If we had wanted anything more exotic we could easily have gone elsewhere, we stayed in for convenience. We sat in the dining room long after other guests had left, and then again in the bar, but were not made to feel in the way. Breakfast was again of a perfectly good quality (apart from the sausage, which could do with an upgrade). Finally, the owners had even gone to the trouble of pre-splitting the bill for food/wine etc so we didn't have to try to work it out for ourselves. All in all, a very nice stay; nothing fancy or flash, but the personal service and friendly, helpful approach should be adopted by some of the hotels with much higher rankings. Often 4* does not mean service with a smile or even being helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Many thanks for your review. Just a quick technical note about sausages! They're actually locally made by a small butcher, not mass produced, but they are chipolata size. The "gourmet" kind of sausage often tends to be much larger - which increases cooking time. On weekdays especially many of our guests are in a hurry at breakfast time and we prefer the smaller sausage just because it cooks more quickly.

“Will definitely come and stay here again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

This is a very comfortable, clean and welcoming hotel. Check in went smoothly, the room was perfect. We had an evening meal which was excellent and the breakfast the following morning was faultless too. Will definitely be staying again.

“Another Fantastic Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

This is our third visit to this hotel in less than a year, and this is our Chillout Retreat when we want to get away for a weekend. We always receive a very warm welcome and have just arrived home after indulging in another two nights with fabulous food which gives quantity and quality at it's best. Thank you to the young chef that they have on board! The service that we receive from the owners is excellent and we cannot fault anything at all. A Truly relaxing stay with everything that you could wish for. A superbly clean and comfortable room with a really comfy bed. I would just say to anyone try this hotel - you wll not be disappointed!

“A delightful, comfortable small hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

This is a really comfortable hotel, and was a pleasure to stay in. Compared with lots of other places I have stayed, it had a really nice feel to it. The rooms are tastefully decorated, very clean and a reasonable size. The facilities are good, including free wi-fi in the bedrooms. I found the owners very friendly and helpful, so I was surprised to read the comments about poor customer service from other guests. The breakfast was delicious. i would certainly stay here again and would recommend it.

It is right on the outskirts of Cheltenham, so has lovely views out to the countryside but you would need transport to get into the centre of town.
