“Nice Old Hotel, with all the quirks, everything is chargeable extra”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Hotel was pleasant and typically old world for this area. It was a cold january and whilst the 12ft high sash window was very pleasant, the 12ft high curtains totally covered the radiator and were sealed to the sides so couldnt be adjusted. So, heat or light...
The bed was very soft, sagging in the middle and too high at the foot.
There was a smell of cig smoke coming under my door which got progressively worse. Called reception and it stopped, then happened again. Someone was smoking in their room. Strange, as there are sensors in rooms and corridors.
Didnt sample the evening menu as the restaurant was deserted. Went next door to a Brasserie. Breakfast was great.
I was bit miffed that the hotel isnt cheap, its out of season and you still have to pay for wi-fi and whilst there is plenty of parking you still have to pay £10 to park in a 70% empty car park.

Room Tip: Stay at end of corridors as floors creak when people walk by.

“Steeped in old world charm!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This was our 3rd year visiting the hotel and we always enjoy our weekend here! We were disappointed to be given a room smelling of paint with very strong fumes and freezing cold! We asked to change and 2 calls later we moved ourselves to an older room but one which was fresh and warm! The bed was lovely and comfortable snd bathroom well equipped and clean! The food as always was very good including breakfast and bar food! There was a great atmosphere in the bar etc! The staff were friendly even when I pointed out they had overcharged me twice while checking out! We will go back and give them another chance as other years we have been more than happy!

“Great stay. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.”

Stayed here for one night en route to meet up with family. I lived in the area for a while and always wondered what it was like inside this hotel.

Got a really good deal for one night and so couldn't resist booking it. Yes, there was scaffolding all over the front which spoilt the exterior of the hotel but the interior did not disappoint.

Our room was a lot bigger than I had expected with stairs down to the en suite. Very impressive.

The room was extremely quiet and very, very comfortable. Could not fault it at all. Had a very comfortable and quiet night's sleep and I haven't been able to say that about a lot of hotels I've stayed in. I usually end up right by the lifts!!

I would definitely recommend this hotel. There's only one criticism and that was with regard to the parking. £10 for overnight parking was a little extortionate and was not made very clear when booking and checking in.

Room Tip: Room 203 was very quiet.

“Central location and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

OK - so I could whinge about the heating in the room, the soulless bar, and the bars of soap being the wrong size - but for the price I paid (circa 75 quid) - it's a bargain.

Just avoid the bar and for food and drinks head the Brasserie Blanc downstairs, although its not accesible from the main hotel, its as good as it gets anywhere in hotel world-land.

Reception chap very helpful and friendly, bed OK, lots of hot water for a bath and shower and bang in the middle of everything in Montpellier.

“The Queen's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We booked a wine and dine package, bed, breakfast and 5 course evening meal, the waiter was brilliant as was the food and wine, cannot complain one bit, certainly reccomend it. Only little problem was waiting for a taxi as it was race day but that's not the hotel's fault. Good location for town centre and loads of pubs and bars within a five minute walk.
