Had dinner on Saturday night with friends. I found the service a little lacking but not unusual for here in recent months. Menu was uninspiring and struggled with my main of rump steak. Had to send back to have cooked further as was raw as had requested medium done not rare. Came back from kitchen cooked but covered in oily salty gravy which had not been there 1st time round. I left majority of it on plate. Still charged full price tho. Found most of the food on the cool side too as if left hanging around. In fact, the restaurant was on the cool side and I ended up wearing coat for 1st half hour to warm up.
We live local so use the pub regularly for a drink or lunch etc. Really hope this is a one off.

Have stayed here once before and had a really good stay which was value for money. Have just come back from a 1 night dbb stay. Stayed in their new room -BUTCHERS. Very pleasant, but no bedside tables which had not arrived for opening, and a cold bathroom as it only had a heated towel rail. Also had to ask for CH to be turned up as the owners control it from the bar !! The usual Farrow and Ball colours with white bedding on a new but quite hard bed. Service in the restaurant is very good and efficient and good hearty rustic italian fayre. Breakfast good but supermarket bread needs up-grading . Starters and desserts are the best bit of the meal at dinner. A good sized menu with enough to chooose from. Wines reasonable through to expensive - its your choice. However the new room is above the bar and the noise up until 12.45 am was awful. You could hear all including staff clearing up!!
Whilst we all accept bar noise this was and is excessive and for £200 for a dbb stay, far too expensive.

We have viewed the impressive-looking room but not stayed as we live locally. The food here is simply exceptional. And though the menu may change, the quality does not. The Sun offers fresh ingredients inventively cooked and reasonably priced. service is very good and there is no frustrating service charge to detract from the experience. wonderful place to eat!

Just returned from our third stay at the Sun Inn, and as always, superb rooms, food, wine and staff. A perfect short break, beautiful village location and made to feel both spoilt and special. I only ever read reviews on here and never add them, but, to be fair the Sun Inn truly deserves praise hence my first ever entry! Fantastic for couples looking for some R&R.
