We were going to stay three nights, so glad we didn't. There was no parking and we had to park in the next street. This is more like a nursing home than a Bed & Breakfast. On arrival we were met with a friendly greeting and went up the two flights of stairs to our attic room. There is a stair lift up both flights making it quite difficult to get up there past this, if we had had a bigger case it would have been impossible.
Our room was quite small, but clean and tidy with bottles of water, tea coffee etc, however on inspecting the en-suite shower room, the shower tray had mould growing around it, there was an odd white tile which had been used to replace a missing one of the original colour.
The toilet was set in a sloped corner, which almost made it impossible for an average sized male to stand and have a pee, you almost had to limbo to use it, in fact a tall chap would have to stand in the shower to use it.
We didn't stay for breakfast as we had to leave early, but compared to the premier Inn along the road in Newhaven, it is not good value for money.
The couple running The Avondale seemed friendly and kindly printed a copy of a local Restaurant menu for us, but I don't think that we would stay again.
Room Tip: Don't accept an attic room
