“Outstanding Oaklands!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

I came here with my mother and my 11month old in May. Having called around a number of B&B's in the area we found that most did not want anyone with a baby staying. Luckily for us Oaklands had a seperate studio apartment above one of the outbuildings and are therefore happy to accomodate guests with little children. The apartment was impeccably decorated and beautifully clean. The views from the apartment were gorgeous...we had rolling country one side and rolling country and seaview from the other.

When we arrived we were greeted by freshly baked bread, fresh eggs, homemade marmalade, a basket of breakfast treats including tea, coffee etc. It was more that we had expected, and worked out perfectly for us, as I could feed my daughter breakfast early in the morning. In addition to this we were also brought freshly baked croissants and pain au rasins at 8.30am which we ate in the luxury of our apartment.

The whole weekend was fabulous, and if you plan visiting this area don't think a second about booking Oaklands. The B&B is just outside Rye (literally a few minutes drive) but we felt this was better than staying in Rye as parking is notoriously bad in town.

As we left we were given some lavendar from the garden as a little momento of our stay. I also left with the delicious bread recipe which I will be trying out this week!!

“What a treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2012

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Oaklands, the house, accommodation and hosts are well worthy of their Gold Star rating. Our room was well appointed and enjoyed stunning views over the Sussex coastal area, with the Spring sunshine this was a delight. Diane and Tony made us very welcome and our breakfasts were truly delicious, the fresh fruit plates and the homemade jams could not be bettered.

If you are looking for a relaxing break near to Rye we recommend you try Oaklands, you will not be disappointed. We are hoping to go again in the autumn so please don't book up all the rooms!

“A fantastic b&b, highly recommended”

From the moment we arrived at Oaklands we were made to feel very at home by Diane and Tony. The B&B is tranquil and situated in lovely countryside surroundings at a convenient distance from the centre of Rye (20 mins walk on a pavement alongside country fields) and is very restful and relaxing as a result. The Winchelsea room with its solid four-poster king size bed is lovely. It doesn't have a bath in the ensuite but other than that everything we wanted was already provided, excellent bedding, towels, drink making facilities, a fridge in the room, chilled water. The overriding theme of our stay was that all our needs were catered for- Diane and Tony have a fantastic memory for the little details that make a stay extra comfortable, such as noting that I asked for decaf tea one morning and then bringing a few teabags of the same up to the room later (thank you!). They are very friendly and very chatty and full of advice on what do during our stay. Breakfast was amazing - possibly one of the best I've ever had - we had fresh fruit, home made fruit compote and greek yogurt, followed by home baked croissants and home made jams followed then by full english breakfasts, with home baked bread, which differed each day and were beautifully cooked and seasoned - a fantastic way to start the day. They are also committed to supporting English produce and took great care in what they served to us. A wonderful little Sussex retreat.

Room Tip: Winchelsea room was at the front of the house, had a king size four poster bed and faced the very qu...

“Fantastic B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2012

We stayed in The Mews which is the self catering studio. The studio is wonderful, beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained, the studio, as well as the whole property was gleamingly clean and tidy and absolutely everything is provided that you can think of. Oaklands is walking distance into Rye but still in the country so you are surrounded by beautiful fields and farmland. There were new lambs running around and Tony and Diane have a large garden and lawns with seats and cobbled areas to sit outside. Each morning Diane would bake fresh pastries for breakfast and we were provided with cereals, milk, fruit juice, homebaked bread, homemade jams and fresh eggs to make our own breakfast. This meant we could wake up and have our breakfast whenever we wanted to. Tony and Diane are lovely hosts and could not have been more friendly or helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed for one night in this lovely house. We were made very welcome and Tony & Diane were the perfect hosts. The breakfast was gorgeous with everything homemade. We had a beautiful view from our room and there was everything you needed and more. I would definately recommend staying here it was worth the money.
