We tried the guest house once and were distinctly underwhelmed. Biggest complaint was just how small the rooms were. Not enough room to breathe let alone swing a cat.
Shame, as the location, next to St Mary;s Church in Rye took some beating. I know Rye intimately having been to school there. Also a friend got married in St Marys Church, so I know just what it has to offer.
Further the breakfast, a supposed continental breakfast, was a pale shaddow of the ones I have enjoyed many a time when living and visiting the continent. No cold meats or charcutery, no variety of cheeses, no pastries, no fruit yoghurts. Not good value for money.
But several times now, in fact each time we have visited Rye (my parents live in the area) we've had a cuppa in the the cafe and have never been dissapointed. The drinkies are excellent and competitivelly priced. Important as in Rye one does not have to put up with second rate coffee or tea. The ambience in the place is exisite. I always wonder if with my coffee, the balance of my humours is going to be analysed! We will keep on coming back for coffee and tea as this is what this place does best.
If they added a good gluten free menu I wouldn't need to consider anywhere else in town.
